Daughter couldn't wait to read with the class, so she read ahead; MY daughter who we usually have to make read a book! The characters were interesting and well-developed, and we could feel a personal connection with them.

A good introduction into the trials and tribulations of the immigrants coming to a new world. Being in Texas presented a special hardship for these German travelers not encountered in other parts of the United States at that time in history.

My students & I love this story about Mina, from Germany, traveling to Texas in the 1800s. Beautifully written
