Super Cute!
Y'all know how much I love finding new authors to try. What you probably don't know is, while searching for said authors, I ALWAYS check Goodreads to see if any of my friends have read their books. And when they haven't I get really excited. It's like finding gold at the end of the rainbow. From the moment I read the synopsis, I was intrigued and could not wait for this book to be released. How long have I had my eye on it? For about a month. I may or may not have let out a little squeal as I was one-clicking this baby.Callie is a very strong, independent woman who knows what she wants in life and is not afraid to go out and get it. Her self-confidence is rather inspiring. She's definitely someone I can see myself being friends with. You can't help but want to do better and be better when she's around. Dawson is a prime example for that.Speaking of Dawson, the man can definitely be a beast to others around him. He's jaded and stuck in his ways. That is until Callie starts working her magic without him even realizing it. Watching him transform into a better person and seeing their relationship develop was a fun journey. While I really enjoyed the book and had a hard time putting it down, there were a couple of things that stopped me from giving it the full 5 stars I wanted to give it. The main reason is there are parts of the book that just didn't make sense to me. People were hot and cold for reasons that readers are not shown. There's miscommunication that didn't fit who the characters are. The other part is there are some grammatical and editing errors throughout the book that beta readers and/or the editor should have caught. But, like I said, it didn't stop me from enjoying the book. I was only about 23% in before I reached out to one amazing friend and about 34% in before I reached out to another amazing friend telling them both that they have to give this book a try! I may or may not have told one... she had me at "power panties"! 🤣I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the books in this series. I've already read the sneak peek of Tara and Alec's book and I cannot wait to discovery their story!I believe this is Ms. Jeffries first book and I can already tell she's going places! I can't wait to see where her writing journey takes her!

Food. Food. And more Food.
The story was okay at first but the female lead was increasingly annoying. Her self-talk wasn’t as humorous as expected and her No. 1 interest was FOOD! The writer described her as curvy but that has to be a polite way of saying something nice about someone who never let a veggie cross her lips! I liked The Boss for most of the book but then he fell into this groveling, apologetic mass of doubt and confusion— not in keeping with the man who started a successful business. I rushed through it to see how it ended but I really don’t know why. Not to my liking but others may thoroughly enjoy.

Please find a good editor.
I wanted to like this book, I really did. I got to page 41 and had to stop for several reasons.First, I honestly believed I was reading a bad version of another author. Too many similarities for comfort.Second, I can say with accuracy, this did not go through an editor or even a proofreader. There were too many mistakes. One perfect example is the first line on page 24... Why is this entire line in caps? There is no reason for it. Third, please decide if you are going to write in present or past tense. Said is past. Says is present. They do not belong in the same conversation (he said, I say, he says).I could continue with the issues in just the first 41 pages but I will not. I will advise the author to find an editor or at the very least, someone to proofread for basic flaws. Finding inspiration from another author is wonderful but be very careful you don't imitate that author to the point you fall short in your own story. Be original. No one likes a copycat.I wanted to read this book. I purchased it because it sounded so good in the blurb. Unfortunately, it was a complete nosedive into the dirt for me that could have been prevented easily. I truly hope this author cleans this up. I would love to read it again when it's fixed and original.

I did finish
Usually when a book starts going downhill, I close it out and move on. A free afternoon is too rare and precious to waste on a book that isn’t good. But I did finish this one. Not because it was good. It wasn’t. I just was not in a location where I could download another. To me, there was zero chemistry between the main characters. Dawson was an utter jerk, beginning to end. Callie was a doormat, beginning to end.Even the hea felt flat and cold. This was not a relaxing romance. It was much too on again, off again, for me.Combine that with the shear lack of chemistry, and the hea that is more fizzle than sizzle, and all I can say is, if I had the option of downloading a different book, that would have been my first choice.

Expected, still sweet.
Though this story went the usual way, with a little drama before the inevitable romantic ending the story told between beginning and ending was really sweet. Rare spelling errors. Completely clean.

Such a beautiful story
Dawson and Callie work it out so well. Their work together, perfectly timed. And then learning to be together without overdoing. Absolute real-life. Lovely!
