A great nostalgic re-release of an old classic
A good re-release of an old vintage friend. As a modern reworking it has some pro's and con's. This isn't quite the classic toy that you remember. But it is close enough to pass muster for the nostalgic type. Overall the core body is the same as it was, right down to the textured roof. 2 of the three action features remain largely intact. The missile in the front grill, and the spinner launching from the trunk. The only minor difference with them is they are now a brighter more visible orange than I remember the classic toys being. The car even has the horrible sticker on the roof that was always the first thing we peeled off as kids. The one main negative is they have completely done away with the third feature, and the details related to it. In the original 68 toy it had a seated Kato driving, and there was a pivoting Green Hornet in the back, who swung out the back window to point his gas pistol at pursuers. I can understand why they did away with the "Hero with a Handgun" feature. It's still rather sad. Instead the car comes with a rather pointless plastic standing figure of Kato that wildly out of scale. On the positive and neutral changes. The car now has a bit more plastic, with the underside being a plastic tub rather than the traditional matchbox style cast metal. I don't view that as a major negative. The old undersides were generally of a poorer quality metal than the top diecast. The new bottom plate does the job and the car still has a solid metal weight to it. Without the figures the windows now wrap all the way around, fully enclosing the interior with their greenish tint. The wheels are all new and improved and much better match the actual filming car. The original Corgi model had the stock Chrysler Imperial hubcaps. The new one has the custom wheels that the actual on screen car had.Overall a great little piece.

Which on the whole wasn't to bad of a price to pay
I found this on Amazon one day priced reasonably at Amazon Store.I believe it cost me about $50.00 with shipping & handling! Which on the whole wasn't to bad of a price to pay. It was put out a while back 2001.Mine is mint in a shelf worn & wrinkled box. Put diecast black beauty model was still strapped in tied down & MIP.And it has the more accurate looking rims too! Corgi, did a good job in getting the Look of the classic Black Beauty right!!If you want this then you'd better act fast and buy one before their all gone!THanks, Marcus
