Great book, highly recommended to classical guitarists
Great book for classical guitarist, has great practice pieces and arpeggios. This is a really nice book and it split into multiple sections. I would highly recommend to anyone going through this book to use a metronome with it.

Classical charm
This book has a number of different sections to it, and all pieces are quite playable for any intermediate level guitarist as long as tempo markings are not strictly followed. I wouldn't consider any of these pieces to be virtuoso material; they are all Etudes and Studies. Some of them are quite delightful to play. They're mostly predictable melodies, but occasionally the guitarist will come upon quite unpredictable chords and fingerings. The binding of the book allows it to lay flat while playing, and the printing is crisp and clear, without any obvious typos. Throughout, the editor has inserted recommended right and left hand fingering at various positions in the score. The music's rather predictable classical charm makes it an excellent therapeutic resource for these unsettling times. I play these on an amplified acoustic guitar, and they have an entirely different sound on that instrument.

Good compilation, Giuliani's studies are too often ignored
Nicely printed, generally well fingered. Maybe a little more added historical background would be nice. Seems to me that Giuliani is now a little under rated as a composer, and a lot of his studies are also good pieces of music.

The book is divided into five sections. The first ...
The book is divided into five sections. The first is the famous 120 Giuliani arpeggios, which exercise all different combinations of the I,m, and a fingers using only the C and G7 chord in first position so you can focus exclusively on right hand development.Part 2 is comprised of scale studies in the popular guitar keys of C,G,D, and A. They are page long studies of these scales in thirds, sixths, octaves, and tenths. The purpose of these studies are twofold: to practice alternating fingers with the right hand, and to give the left hand practice in changing fingering accurately and quickly.Part 3 is a study of articulation, damping, ligados, and ornaments such as grace notes, hammer ons, etc. These are presented as short etudes so you can practice these techniques in a musical format, rather than as exercises.Part 4 is 12 pieces designed to incorporate all of the previous studies.Part 5 is a selection of studies from Opus 48, 51, 98, 100, and 139.This book is an incredible value. By the time you rigorously apply these studies and finish the book, you would be a solid intermediate. Please note, the book only has staff notation and no tab. For many of the studies, solid music notation reading is a must.

The real meat potatoes of classical guitar
Awesome book. Before seeing this book I had been doing the Giuliani arpeggio studies for years from the book "Pumping Nylon" which are also contained in the front of this book. In addition this book contains many songs with great melodies. I've memorized eight so far that I really like and always get a terrific response when I perform them for others. What I love about Guiliani is he writes "in the key" and most of his harmonies follow 2, 5, 1 or 4, 5, 1 chords patterns. So many of the modern guitar composers think they have sharp or flat every note in the key which I find difficult to learn since I think in patterns. Not Giuliani. If you can think in standard chord structures, 1, 4, 5 ie. G, C, D7 you should find these tunes easy to learn. And best of all your friends will feel transcend to Italy in the 1800s when you play them.

The music is wonderful but it is lacking what is needed.
I love Giuliani's music but I have a difficult time with the right hand fingering. I bought this book because I thought it would give me detailed help with that. It doesn't. It seems to assume that I will know what the right hand should do all the time. I don't know what to to do and that is why I bought the book. Oh well, the music is very enjoyable if not quite difficult at times.

Get the Spiral version while you can
The spiral bound version is a must if you want to read the music without the use of pegs to hold pages open. It is good to find such a version available and well worth the money. It is a pity that all such music books are not bound in this way as it is worth paying the extra.I believe the Sor Studies book started out this way but was then rep[laced by the throw away version. Pity I failed to buy that while it was still available.
