ScharfPro Vertical Self-Pressure Vegetable Spiralizer …

Easy to use. Dishwasher safe!!
I was so geeked to try the ScharfPro Vertical Spiralizer that I tried it minutes after it arrived. I'm in a Facebook group and they talk almost daily about "zoodles", zucchini noodles, so that was the first thing I made. This is SO simple to use, wash your zucchini, stick it above the blade, lock the pressure mount and turn the handle. 3 zucchinis spiralized in 2 minutes. I tried all 3 blades, the ribbon blade and the thick spiral blade are great for decorative cuts like salads maybe (pictures posted). The thin julienne is best for "zoodles". I didn't grab pictures because I was so excited to cook it! (Threw it in a pan with some onions then added soy sauce - Voila! Instant low carb lowmein!)I can't say enough good things about this spiralizer. It is so simple to use that I know I will use it often. Best part? IT'S DISHWASHER SAFE! I would give this 6 stars if I could! Thanks ScharfPro!**Edited. 7/24. I have used and then run all parts through the dishwasher a few more times. Still love it! I've added a few more pics.I received this item at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.

Making Spiral-Food Fun & Easy
The ScharfPro Vertical Self-Pressure Vegetable Spiralizer comes with the following feature list: Spiralize “quickly and effortlessly, without applying any pressure onto the vegetable.” Endless veggie & fruit creation. Heavy-duty reinforced plastic and stainless steel construction. Safe & time-saving.The Spiralizer pretty much lives up to the claims. The gravity-fed design definitely makes using the Spiralizer extremely easy, and even fun. All 5 members of my family have had a turn at this thing. The possibilities of usage are many, and limited only by your diet and imagination. The heavy-duty claims are generally true. While it does feel like the Spiralizer is sturdy in your hands, I would not be in a hurry to test what would happen if it were to fall off the counter. Another concern is that the bottom does not lock into place. This typically will not be much of an issue, but it does mean that in some instances you may need to hold on to the Spiralizer so it stays connected to the bottom reservoir (especially if allowing children kitchen-helpers to crank). Similarly, the crank handle does not lock into place tightly, so that will also come out if you’re not careful. Thanks to the Spiralizer’s design, it does feel safe. The blades are small and centrally located underneath the loaded fruit or vegetable. One complaint people tend to have with all of the Spiralizer-type devices (regardless of manufacturer) is that you once your vegetable or fruit has run through, you are left with the center of the vegetable or fruit you are using. We did not see this as an issue for our usage, and simply cut up the core of the zucchini and put it into our pasta as we might have done anyways.Pros Makes using various veggies fun. Gravity-fed design aids in efficiency of use (very little effort needed to feed vegetables into the Spiralizer). Kid friendly (blade is far from operating mechanism)Cons The bottom does not lock into place. The handle does not lock into place.Who's This For? Anyone who wants to incorporate more vegetables in their diet in a fun wayBonus dish we made after the Spiralizer arrived:Zucchini noodles topped with basil pesto & sliced heirloom tomatoes. It was delicious and fresh. My wife & daughter noted that the zucchini noodles did not make them feel bloated as traditional pasta often does.*Will edit review later with images.

Disappointed. Need 2 pairs of hands to make this work and you may get a friction burn! Would not buy again!
I am so disappointed in this product. I have a traditional horizontal spiralizer but it needs 3 pairs of hands to make it work efficiently. So, when I saw this one I figured the downward pressure of a vertical shaft would make it so much easier. Not so.1. You have to press downwards on the top handle to make the vegetable go through the blade. This button gets hot and causes a friction mark on your hand.2. The bowl attachment is very small but worse than that, the top mechanism doesn't lock onto the bowl fitting so you also need to hold that to stop it spinning around.3. By now you have no hands left to turn the crank to actually make the zoodles. It took 2 of us to use this and my hand is still smarting from the top handle.I would send this back but I don't want to have to pay shipping on it. Needless to say, it will be joining the graveyard of useless kitchen gadgets.Very disappointed, with a few engineering tweaks this might actually have worked but as it is now it definitely does not.

Healthy Eating Made Easy!!!
I was thrilled to try the ScharfPro™ Vertical Self-Pressure Vegetable Spiralizer. It includes easy to follow directions.Vegetables used as spaghetti substitute don't taste exactly like pasta; instead the flavor comes from the sauce and the vegetables, but somehow a zucchini made into spaghetti strands doesn't taste like zucchini, it tastes much better. That might be because it's so thin it only has to cook for about two minutes max. Add some good sauce and grated Parmesan and you've got a dish. Eating healthy is a must in my life at this stage.I had the best yellow squash spaghetti yesterday which family and friends enjoyed very much...no more pasta...t's delicious in its own right - it doesn't need to mimic pasta, although with sauce it comes close. I bought this on a whim and I now know that this is a wonderful product. I have had it for about a week and I love it. It is so easy to use and it makes wonderful noodles.

It was a bit larger than I anticipated...stands about 14 inches tall with the clear base attached, so finding storage is an issue.. I'm not sure how I would replace the blades if they become dull. I like the crank feature that makes it easy to create the spirals and ribbons without using too much pressure. I wanted something without a bunch of gadgets to add, just simply to spiralize my veggies, so this is simple. The hand held spiralizers are too hard on my arthritis. This seems fine and works well with the zucchini and potato I used it on so far. I like the bowl below that catches the veggies. It leaves behind funny little posts and end pieces that can be easily chopped into bits to add to a salad . I've only had it for a week, but so far so good.

Great, quick and easy - only complaint is the little cylindrical piece of food always left over. If the design could eliminate the need for this it would be 5 stars.
