I will start by saying: Wow.This is an incredible book. I feel spoiled to have a book like this in my hands. Most art books I’ve read do not offer as much as this book does. The title does not lie, this is a window into the world of Devin Elle Kurtz. She is an artist who captures the grand beauty and childlike wonder of life that we witness in our dreams and imaginations. Her art is breathtaking, but when you read this book, you will find a need for an even deeper gasp for air. The amount of thought put into her art, and the truly beautiful and raw stories that she portrays in her art gave me an even greater appreciation for the pieces. I began reading this book knowing nothing about her, only that I liked her art and was curious to know more. What I learned is how to better communicate a visual story, use color meaningfully, and harness light to wrap these concepts together into a beautiful bow. That’s just a summarization, as you should expect more than that from this book.Naturally, you will learn about Devin’s creative process, her passion for art, her own personal stories, how her art intertwines with them, and tips and tricks on using specific drawing tools and softwares to level up your work.Her work is primarily digital, and though I don’t use the digital software she uses for her art, it was still applicable and written in a way I could grasp. (She does include a second window into her traditional art as well, so no artists should feel excluded medium-wise.)The book is divided into sections that all connect to the heart of her art, and it leaves great concepts to consider in each section. She was even thoughtful enough to include a drawing exercise that, to my surprise, I tried, enjoyed, and learned from!Overall, it’s a beautiful blend in terms of an art book, as it’s not just a mini gallery of Devin’s work, but a story. One that you can learn from, relate to, and enjoy the entire way through. This book will make you stop and assess yourself as an artist, leaving you to wonder if it’s time you draw a new window into your own world.

I’ve never written an Amazon review before, so that should tell you something. This art book is just incredible. I wish I could read it for the first time again and again every time. Devin is my favorite artist, and I’m so so thankful to her for her inspiration and commitment to the industry. A real hero of a human being. Buy it. Buy her prints when she has a sale. Tip her for the brush packs she offers. What a gem. She deserves all the support, and you deserve this book.

I love all the art in the book, but I really loved how the artist talked about her life and what she’s gone through. It reminded you that nothing in life is easy, but if you keep at it, then it’s worth it.

This book is awesome. I only have 1 problem: its top corner at the binder is a bit bent. I don't mind so much because I buy it for myself, would be embarrassed if this is for gifting

Más cuidado con el empaquetado, fuero todo eso todo bien

J’ai découvert cet artiste un peu par hasard en parcourant le site de la maison d’édition et je suis tombée amoureuse de son œuvre. Je l’ai pris au départ car les décors sont un peu ma bête noire en tant qu’illustrateur et ses décors sont sublimes ( on y voit pas mal d’intérieur avec vue sur des aquariums mais aussi des extérieurs en milieu naturel et même quelques vues citadines . Mais en parcourant ce livre j’ai pu voir à quel point cet artiste est doué dans divers domaines : ses ambiances lumineuses sont excellentes( on ressens même parfois la chaleur de la lumière ex renard proche d’une fenêtre). Parfois certains dessins sont plus académiques (lion en peinture ou dessins à l’encre) mais toujours magnifiques certains n’ont que peu de coup de pinceau (portrait coloré d’un chat) mais elle arrive à faire ressentir beaucoup avec peu. En plus elle fournit des conseils et des informations sur son approche artistique bref mon nouveau artbook préféré !

Le illustrazioni sono stupende, leggere della vita dell’artista e delle difficoltà incontrate durante il percorso rincuora molto giovani artisti alle prime armi come me. Inoltre ritengo che le spiegazioni tecniche all’interno siano molto valide

Devin es una de mis ilustradoras favoritas por excelencia y cuyo arte me sirve de referencia en cada obra, por lo que el lanzamiento de su libro fue para mí como encontrar un pozo en el desierto. Cuida al detalle sus explicaciones y se asegura de que quede todo claro. Es un recorrido imprescindible por su vida artística.
