Clean & Protect Your T-Bone Mouthpiece
Wasn’t sure if this device was necessary till I remembered seeing a box full of brass instrument mouthpieces in my musical instrument repairman Dad’s stash one time. A lot of dents in many of the shanks. One of the things this device can do is help prevent these dents when the mouthpiece is out of the horn and is hit or dropped. Admittedly, this has seldom (if ever) happened to me, but it seemed to be a nice “extra feature” for me. What I mean by that is my main reason for purchasing this tool. For decades I have carried and regularly used some kind of lip balm for when I’m playing my horn. Otherwise I can develop what I refer to as “leather lips” and my ability to play softly is GONE! These lip balms can cause a buildup in the mouthpiece over time. This tool is an excellent way to prevent this buildup or clear any that may have already occurred. May sound disgusting, but it’s my reality. So far, after about two months of regular use, I love this tool for cleaning and storing it inside my mouthpiece shank. Hope this is helpful.

Well-thought-out design!
This Protec Trombone Mouthpiece Brush is definitely smaller than others, but it does a good job nonetheless. A lot of thought went into the design of this brush:– cone-shaped handle which makes the brush easier to hold (as opposed to the looped wire on typical brushes) and prevents the shank from being scratches or scrapes– hard rubber coated tip to prevent exposed wire from scratching up the inside of your mouthpiece– exposed stem between bristles and handle is rubber coated for added protection from metal-on-metal scratching– the brush comes with a handy-dandy snap lid sleeve to store your brush after each use to prevent lint from a instrument case to clog the bristles (warning: please allow the brush to fully dry before storing brush, or else bacteria may grow!)This little brush is really works well and is safer to use than the typical mouthpiece brush. High recommended.

Excellent!
What I love about these brushes is that you can leave them inside the shank when you put your mouthpiece away. Still wash mouthpiece and brush regularly in warm soap and water, but brush protects the shank and there’s no lint or junk in your mouthpiece for the next use. I just bought new ones after using my last ones for years - they really last! I’m a pro player and spend a lot of hours on my horns, so I go through a lot of cleaning supplies. These have lasted me a lot longer than a lot of others because they don’t get bent out of shape so quickly, and the bristles are good quality and don’t fall out.
