Have patience
I only had two rats when I ordered this. I really didn't want to use this b/c I hate to kill. Anyway, I now have over ten rats. I put this trap out and DID NOT turn it on right away. I put canned cat food inside and near the openings to lure them in. (Use whatever the squirrels won't eat) I did this for about a month. In and out they went. I did turn it on this morning. Since they are so used to going in, they did not hesitate. This morning I got one huge one. I reset it and ten minutes later I got another one. So, have a little patience and let them get used to going in and out. I don't feel so bad now. It's a really a quick kill. I do hope this helps anyone hesitating to use this trap - update one hour later - make that 3 rats so far today. Edit for the next day - one more rat. , four total

Doesn’t work on anything bigger than tiny mice
I’ve bought several of these types of traps before, and the larger ones designed for rats are the only ones that seem to work on small field mice and all the way up to wood rats alike. For the price, buy 2 or 3 rat traps and have better success. This one has only caught 1 mouse on the back porch and a couple scorpions

Well build and effective
I use my garage as overflow storage for food and a family of rats had moved in. The key was removing all the food and water - in paper, plastic wrap, and plastic container packaging. After a few days of hunger and no other choice for food, this trap was very effective in getting rid of four rats in as many days. Disposal and resetting the trap was very easy. While it’s more expensive than other rat traps, I was impressed by its effectiveness, build quality, and ease of use.

Have to look at dead rats.
I had gotten a rat zapper about 10 years ago from a company that no longer exists that I swore by until it died and I ended up buying this one. The one thing the old one did better was it wasn't such a tight fit for the rodents - I could just pick up the zapper and dump a dead rat into a bag without ever looking at it. This one I have to completely open it and then jiggle them out - these rats are fat but that space is really cramped!I caught two rats within the first 48 hours of having this outdoors. I knew there was a third rat but it took 6 weeks before it ever stepped in this zapper. He must have been in there a full day by the time I found him since he stunk! I had to hose out the inside after I dumped it.It's nice that you can check the battery life by pressing the power button - it flashes for the percentage of battery life left.

Haven’t caught one mouse, even though they are all over my property
I was so hopeful when I dropped $200 on two of these. What a seemingly perfect solution…zap them outside BEFORE they get in. But 100% fail. We live in the country next to fields and crops and mice trying to find their way in is always an issue. I have a plug in electric zapper that works great inside my garage. That one has caught and quickly dispatched numerous mice that have made it in. But I wanted to stop mice BEFORE making it in garage. I baited the little cup with peanut butter (as all my traps are) and have never caught/killed ONE mouse in months of use. I even moved one of these in my rabbit run where scurrying mice are easily visible, and still nothing. I then use snap traps in exact same location and caught mice everyday. Also having to watch for the red blinking light to see if you have a catch is ridiculously slow. If you blink when it happens to flash every 20 seconds, you won’t know and will have to stay bug-eyed staring for signal light even longer. My plug in electric zapper blinks green or red every few seconds and is easy to see if there is a dead mouse inside. But this one sucks. I am sure it’s to save battery life, but it is unreasonably slow & staggered. I just end up picking up the trap and look in, which of course reveals a big ZERO every time. A HUGE waste of $200! I must continue with bucket traps (which freeze outside in the winter, so no drowning…just inhumane starvation), snap traps, and my feral cats. This was a dud.

Great concept but didn't work very effectively
I was so excited when a colleague recommended this to me. I put it outside as directed, and caught ONE mouse. That's it. The hole didn't appear to be large enough for a rat and I had to resort to poison which I tried to to avoid at all costs. For the money, I would just recommend a snap trap.

It works! Need I say more?
I had looked long and hard for an electronic rodent trap that would work outside (virtually every other one on the market is for interior use only). The set-up instructions are easy to follow, and the bait area is easily accessible. You can put something like a hard cheese piece in there, so you don't have to later clean out rancid sticky peanut butter etc. We changed locations several times to capture one particulatly persistent rat, always placing it against the house along the line of a known "rat run". One day, the green light on the outside of the trap was flashing green, and Ratty had indeed been humanely dispatched...

Nicely constructed, but has not caught any rats
This trap is well designed and very durable, but I have tried a couple of different baits in it with no rat or mouse catches. I have a game cam near the trap and I have seen the rats become curious, but not curious enough to actually enter the trap. I’m going to keep trying, but so far I think it is a well designed product that doesn’t actually entice rats to go inside. I’m using it outside and it is performing well and the rain and cold, so I’m hoping I actually catch something someday soon.

Very efficient
Zaps rodents efficiently. A little tricky to set up but managed it eventually.Problems - entrance is not large enough for a reasonable sized rat. We killed 2 delightful Wood mice before we decided not to use it any more. The large rats roaming our garden are still at large.
