The best (only?) black watercolor paper
We need to demonstrate iridescent and interference watercolors, and Legion Aqua Black paper is the best surface to show off the shimmer and color shifting effects.

Disappointed
UPDATE-I reached out to legion paper customer service and they confirmed this is an old batch that had problems. They sent me a replacement very quickly without needing me to send the defective one. I’m very thankful for the awesome customer service! The defective paper will be good for scratch paper.Original review- I don’t write reviews usually, good or bad. I had to for this though. For a professional watercolor paper brand and the price, I would rightfully expect it to be a high Quality product all around. I was wrong. Not a single sheet would tear out neatly like every other pad cheap or expensive. Some sheets have big chunks missing and very noticeable cracks. I then tried to score them as I make my own watercolor journals and the scoring tool was practically like a knife with this paper. Ripped through with not a lot of pressure. You slightly bend a corner oh no now that’s gone too. I would love to assume I just received and expired or defective product and this is not normal. I’ve reached out to Legion and hopefully they will have a satisfactory solution to this. Be careful if you order and understand you may receive the same quality I did.

Nice but damaged
Items are nice but the items should be packaged better. They both got damaged at some point either in transit or warehouse storage.

Be gentle with this strangely delicate paper.
This paper takes water well, even multiple washes, which is nice. However, even bending this paper slightly causes it to crack. Folding it makes it crumble. I don’t know if I got a bad batch or what, but I don’t think I would use paper that acts like this for professional projects.

Overrated
I intend to use this paper for colored pencil work, but I found it is hard to take multiple layers and easy get scratched. The other thing hold me back is the smell of acid. The paper is smooth though, which is the only thing I like about this paper. I expected this paper to be like Arches hot press paper, but I am disappointed. I only wish Arches also produces black paper.

It's good but kindof pretentious
I like this paper well enough for hot press black watercolor paper. I've used it for a couple projects now and have a feel for it- the tooth of the paper is very fine and has a vellum-like surface. It takes water really well but doesn't like getting soaked. It is hard to sketch on but metallic watercolour looks phenomenal on the surface.I think it's pretentious because of the text on the front... Maybe I'll rip the cover off or something.

Deep black paper!
The tooth on the paper was thick enough to layer multiple layers of colored pencils but it was smooth enough for the colored pencils. The white jell pen and the colored pencils popped with the deep black of the paper. The weight of the paper is great for water color. The size of the paper is just right for a frame. All my pictures have been great on other black paper but this paper was a deeper black.

Super recomiendo!
