Good budget bow, but there may be better
This was the first bow I've ever bought (45 lb. draw) but after doing more research (after ordering, oops...) I decided I needed a 35 lb. bow to start with, so I found and purchased locally a Southwest Archery Tigershark. For this review, I'll be comparing the Southland Archery Premier to that bow.In general, both bows are finished nicely, but the Tigershark is noticeably nicer. Also, the riser is a little more slender and rounded, so the Premier is a little heavier. Not a lot, but it is noticeable. Both bows use a metal channel to align the limbs and a single (tooless) screw to hold them in place. Both are 62" bows and rated for shooters "up to 5'7" ". I found this frustrating trying to find a bow that the maker would recommend for a 6' tall person, but both of these work fine for me.The Tigershark came with a brass nock locator installed on the string, the Premier doesn't. otoh, the Premier comes with a really nice stringing tool. The Tigershark doesn't, so I bought one separately which added $15 to the already higher priced Tigershark. The free tool that cam with the Premier is nicer than the one I had to buy for the Tigershark. The only thing I don't like about this bow is the (lack of) instructions. First of all, they instructions say the lower limb is labelled. Mine weren't, so I assumed the limb with the SAS logo was the lower. Seems to be working OK. The bigger issue is with the included string. A bow string has several strands and needs to be twisted to work properly. Also, the top and bottom of the string are different lengths. The instructions mention neither of these issues. I guessed at the number of twists to put in, and restrung the bow after realizing I put it on upside down the first time.Pros:Good quality at a very reasonable priceIncludes a high quality stringing toolCons:Instructions are lacking, especially regarding the stringA nock locator on the string would be niceOverall, I'm happy with the bow and would recommend it. 3 stars mainly for the lack of instruction and the finish compared to the Tigershark. If all you care about is shooting, it's a 4 star bow imo.

A great bow for the money
I bought the bow to hunt when backpacking. I added some Velcro limb pads and string silencers so it shoots very quiet. The laminated riser seems to be very stable and should be a lot stronger than comparably priced bows. I was very impressed with the close fit on the limbs and the thumb screws work well and don't need any wrenches to assemble. I took advantage of the bushings on the riser to mount an old spring plunger through the arrow rest that was provided to aid in tuning the bow/arrow combination. I also used the sight bushings to mount an old sight I had. This resulted in great groups. I also liked the bow stringer SAS provided. Oh, and it looks awesome! I am very pleased!

Great for starters !
I am a beginner in the archery arena. My impression of the bow is positive as far the performance. Not knowing that much about the sport it's hard to compare what is good or not. All i know is that shooting this bow was a bit hard at the start, but i am really enjoying it now that i shoot it every day. I like it !!

Reliability
Very good bow well made , but should have realized that with the name sage in it, should have realized that it is theSamick sage bow licensed to them.

Needs setting up properly
Decent looking bow, bought it for a kid. Good thing I have the tools and experience to set it up properly. Arrow rests were not attached, no knock points on the string. If you are buying this as a beginner take it to a professional archery shop to have them set it up properly…. Or just buy a bow from a local shop where they can set you up right to begin with.

Amazing first bow.
I have been wanting to buy a traditional style bow for a long time now. But haven't found the 'right' one until now. I have had mine for a few weeks. And have fired many, many arrows. And all within a nice grouping at 30 meters. I went and bought the 50lb bow, knowing that at 30, I would want far more. I can get a stronger one next year. I am just getting back into archery after I partook in the sport as a teenager. But man, at 50lbs, can this bow send an arrow flying. Barely visible to the eye at such a release. I know I can take down game with this bow. But am still unsure if hunting is my thing or not. I may get some tags for turkey to find out, since I equate turkey directly with a nice meal.
