Fascinating story!
This book told the fascinating story of how the board game monopoly began. The illustrations in the book were phenomenal. I had purchased the book to gift to my grandchildren along with the new monopoly game pieces. It was a perfect pair.

Fascinating history of Monopoly
Interesting history of one of the most popular games in the world. A long and convoluted trail to get to Parker Brothers release of the game unfolds with interesting illustrations and a light touch. Even explains why it takes so long to play!

Non-fiction picture book about the creation of Monopoly board game
As a childhood Monopoly lover, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this timeline of the earliest version to the one used today. The three star rating is due largely to the fact that I don't know that my 4th and 5th grade library patrons will be as interested as I was despite it containing a female inventor "done wrong" and vivid illustrations by the talented Steven Salerno done in crayon, ink, gouache and pastels (finished in Photoshop). Another plus for this 2020-2021 Texas Bluebonnet Award nominee is the crossover into math and social studies classrooms. Author Tanya Stone includes math problems and their answers and I'm sure that talented teachers could do the same. With the book's primary setting being around the Great Depression and details of banking, patents, joblessness and more, social studies teachers could easily include "Pass Go" in their lesson plans.
