We have a 7 pound Pomeranian. I did have to shave his neck where the prongs sit for it to work but overall it works fairly well. I would say no smaller than a 7 pound Pom as it was on the tightest setting on the collar.

Needs Set of Longer Electrodes and rechargeable batteries.
Downgrading to a two. Frequent replacement of batteries gets expensive. Gets the dogs attention, but you have to keep the fur trimmed short. Battery life could be better. Brand name CR2032 batteries last only a few days, why not rechargeable???. Petsafe should also provide a set of longer electrodes. Otherwise seems to work OK.
