Doug's Headers DEC300A-1 3" Electric Exhaust Cut-Out

After doing some rough measurements on my car, I ordered this product along with a y-pipe so I could install it on my 2013 Subaru WRX STi. First thing I noticed when it arrived was the excellent build quality of the cutout. The motor is sealed well, welds are very clean, everything is aligned nicely, and the gate housing feels very solid. The electrical harness was just as nice, with all connections and wiring protected, and the switch has a great tactile feedback ("click") when pressed. However, the cutout comes with a sticker on it, reading something I wish I knew before ordering: "Welding on cutout voids warranty". Due to issues squeezing this into a hatchback exhaust system (the cutout is about 7 inches long, and the gate housing (oval) is about 8 inches long and 5 inches wide), welding would have been necessary to make it fit, so I decided to return it instead.In short, I did not operate or install the cutout, but from close visual inspection and handling (in conjunction with many hours of research I did before buying this cutout) I can guess that this cutout is the best you can get IF you can make it fit. That being said, this is probably going to fit only on trucks or vehicles with lots of space underneath. I was willing to stake my money that this was the best e-cutout out there, and I'll stand beside that. Shame I can't make use of it.

I hooked it up and did 2-3 open close sequences and the door stopped moving. I can hear the motor spin open and closed, but the door doesn't move. Amazon shipped out a free replacement wicked fast and it seemed to work. I've had it on my Raptor about 2 weeks and absolutely love it!Today, the door stopped moving...again, even though the motor sounds to be working properly. I've contacted the company to see if there is something I'm missing....I'll keep you updated and change my rating if I get a good answer from them.

I wanted the full closed ability of this design. With a very quiet exhaust i didnt want to hear any leakage past the plate. I was afraid of the other designs because they look like they might leak some. I have had problems with this design sticking just before it closes. I have also had problems with it sticking closed if it has not been used in some time. I really like the switch design also. It fits in the place of a factory rocker. If you have a louder exhaust and you dont care about the switch design i think i would go with another design.

Bought this product less then a year ago and it’s already broken... very disappointed would love to speak to someone more in depth about it. [email protected]
