Looks surpass function
They look really nice when stacked, but I'm returning for two reasons.1) I only unwrapped two of the six coasters. One of them sat perfectly flat on the table while to other had uneven corners, causing it to wobble. I didn't check the other four since I knew I was returning them.2) The bare metal on the bottom sits directly on your table top, so it will scratch depending on the surface. You can add rubber or felt feet but then you'll no longer be able to stack them up.

Beautiful and functional (follow initial care directions)
I love these coasters. We have two sets in our lake home. I had initial reservations about purchasing them because I had read reviews reporting the wood curling or warping after use (of not all that long, as I recall). So before wasting my money on them, I called Nambe customer service and said, what's the deal, are these for actual daily use, or are they meant to be decorative (which is ridiculous, in my opinion). Mentioned the negative comments I'd read. She said as long as I follow the initial care directions BEFORE using they'll stand up to years and years of daily use. Her instruction, which she said was included with the coasters, was to wipe mineral oil on them, let them sit for an hour or two, and then wipe it off. Apparently that seals the wood further from what is done during manufacturing. Another hint (in case you're as dim as I was re this product): Don't bother going and looking for mineral oil at Lowe's or Home Depot. Go to your local drugstore (duh!). Turns out it's a gastrointestinal aid. So that's where you'll find it. Additionally, a bit of common sense won't hurt, such as wiping them off after use when condensation remains on the wood. Our experience thus far is that these coasters after several months is they are awesome in both design and function, and still look as good as new. I'll most likely repeat the mineral oil treatment annually - it's no bother.

Try reading the directions first!
If you follow the Nambe' directions you will get decades of service from these coasters. The directions that come in the box with the coasters clearly states to apply mineral oil to the wood, let it soak in, and then wipe it off, BEFORE YOU USE THE COASTERS FOR THE FIRST TIME. You can purchase mineral in the OTC section of a pharmacy and many grocery stores. Make sure you only use mineral oil.I have two sets of these coasters and they have done years and years of service with an occasional wipe down with mineral oil after the initial before use treatment. This is what Nambe' instructs you to do if you follow the printed directions that come with the coasters. Mine look as beautiful as the day they came out of the box.

Trashed Packaging should have been noted!
The Nambe Coaster Set is stunning and Beautiful. Bought this item for a gift and when it arrived. The Amazon box was in perfect condition, but when I opened it up, the Nambe box was beat up with wholes in the sides. Could not give this as a gift in the condition it arrived, so returned and re-ordered.
