Better than paying for an Exterminator!
So, this will be long but worth the info. I paid quite a bit of money to a professional extermination company to get rid of rats in my attic. They set traps but never caught anything. Yet, I could hear the critters up there. I finally took matters into my own hands. I placed one Gizmomate directly in the attic and two more in other areas of my house. A couple of days later I walked the outside of my house and made sure every possible entry was sealed then dribbled peppermint oil on the area. I also sprayed a Rodent Repellent on my wood deck and around the perimeter of my home. I do believe you need to do all these steps.YES, the Gizmomate works- the evening after plugging them in I heard tons of activity. Sounded like they were going crazy, agitated. BUT, they were still up there. Three days later they were gone. CK from Gizmomate reached out to me after first day and explained the increased activity on the first day is normal. By third night it was blissfully silent. I highly recommend this product along with taking time to do the other steps I mentioned. No more noise, no more rats! I've had it in place a couple of weeks now and just moved them to other rooms- want to keep those critters out. Buy this and peppermint oil, save yourself several hundred dollars of exterminator costs.

the sound emitted during the green flashing light is audible to everyone in the family and extremely painful to the ear
Unfortunately, the sound emitted during the green flashing light is audible to everyone in the family and extremely painful to the ear. We will have to return the one I bought for the inside of the house. In the garage, this might be fine, but in the house, it is way too disruptive to the humans. :(

Works!
Just bought a home in upstate NY that had some mice activity in the eaves. I popped this bad boy in and they are GONE. At first it makes a slight sound (you can barely hear it) and then after that its silent. I have it in our kitchen and it works amazingly in a 2000sq. foot home. Would highly recommend it for a natural alternative to rid your home of critters.

Used correctly; This is an effective repellent.
It did take me a little while to learn about proper placement of this device, (for my particular pests, which were Roof rats). These rats proved to be very difficult to bait with traps and after trying many different bait combinations and trap locations, I decided to try the Gizmomate. After a fair amount of experimenting with location for the Gizmo, I realized that I needed to aim it directly at the most used areas that the rats liked most to congregate.Once I learned where those spots were my success with the Gizmomate has increased substantially. Most of my experience with the Gizmomate has been in my battle with these Roof rats, but I will say that other pests that I am regularly bothered by, (house mice and large roaches), have been reduced as well, since starting to use the Gozmomate.I will say that you should not expect the Gizmo's sound waves to pass through walls, floors, or ceilings. You will need several for different rooms and areas in the home.

Houston area rodent issues post Harvey
To be fair, just got these, so I may put another star, or lower in the next few weeks. I have used similar when we lived in Maryland and they appeared to help. This unit had the highest amount of good to excellent reviews from people who seemed to use them thoughtfully and correctly, and gave a lot of follow up info. So, I ordered three for rodent problem recently spotted in and around our garage, which is separated from the house. After Harvey, we have seen unusual roach and rodent activity, especially as debris has been picked up and some houses in our neighborhood are being torn down. So rats scattering doesn't surprise us, but I don't want to see droppings in our small shed. I started with Tomcat bait boxes, glue traps for rats, and chunk bait. These went in gated outdoor area that dogs and children have no access to. Definite activity and caught two rats on glue traps in shed, drowned and disposed.Upon close examination, saw droppings along interior garage edge. Bait box, glue trap, caught one. But after reading about this plug in unit, and then reading about how to use the effectively, I decided to remove bait boxes from garage and garage attic and place two in there. It's plenty for 1000 SF space, garage is not quite that large.I kid you not, first day I go into garage to get a blower and I see a small rat sitting, like he's stunned, on top of some planks on the floor against wall. I made noises, I walked over with a rake. He just looked like he didn't know what to do. He then disappeared into a hole in the wall we hadn't seen...so that's ready for repair. But his behavior is consistent with descriptions of effect of sonic. The websites in the subject say to use either the bait approach or sonic. Don't lure and repel. So we are going to give the sonic a good three to four weeks to see what we see, and keep the bait boxes to exterior garden and perimeter areas. Can you tell I really want to GET them??! Will update after fair time and results. I really hope this helps manage it.

Could be a good product, but misrepresenting is never a good idea
The product clearly states "Indoor, Garden, Back Yard Pest Control" but then when you read the instructions, it says not to install outdoors. We ended up returning, and are out the return shipping fee.Could be a good product, but misrepresenting is never a good idea.

even paying hundreds of dollars to pest removal services - which ended up just being a huge waste of money compared to this prod
I was really skeptical as we had tried several similar solutions in the past. But these actually worked! We used to get chipmunks and mice that would enter under the siding and chew into the wall and nest there. Tried everything, even paying hundreds of dollars to pest removal services - which ended up just being a huge waste of money compared to this product. We put one of these in the crawl space midway between the two points they had been coming in, then one on each wall inside of where they had been entering. It's been almost six months and we haven't seen or heard any rodents since.

Works better than my bear rock
As far as I can tell its working. We found signs of mice in a pantry. Cleaned it out then put one of these in and no signs of themI was concerned about this emitting a noise I could hear but its completely silent.
