Pain-Free Childbirth: Every Woman's Blessing In Jesus

It’s legit
I read this and thought, “what a crock” but apparently it’s a thing! Although I’m a Christian, I had a painful first birth. This time I prepared more and decided to center the birth experience on Jesus and lean on him. I also read “Supernatural Childbirth” and used the Christian Hypnobirthing app on a regular basis. I prayed and leaned into scripture, reading and memorizing it. When I went into labor, it was fast, easy, unmedicated, and intervention free. I wouldn’t call my contractions painful. I was able to stay completely calm and relaxed. I transitioned quickly without even knowing it. My water broke at 5:30 and I went to the hospital. When I got there, I was shocked to learn I was already 9 cm. I was listening to scripture and Christian affirmations and relaxing completely throughout the whole experience except pushing. The nurses said they had never seen anything like it. I felt completely surrounded by Gods presence and had a spiritual experience on the way to my hospital room. My son came out in 4 or 5 pushes on his due date at 7:55 weighing 9 lb 3 oz. Throughout the whole experience, I was calm, peaceful, felt Gods presence and I felt like I knew exactly what was going on in my body. It was just incredible. The claims of this book are legitimate. It was one of the best, most meaningful experiences in my whole life.

Please buy this book if you’re pregnant! Eye and heart opening
I LOVE THIS BOOK. I have read it 2 times already and I’ve taken so many notes. I wish I had this my first pregnancy. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my 4th child. I’ve had hospital births and two natural/med free births. I realize now I relied too much on my own strength for my natural births and not on God and His strength/abilities. I feel so hopeful for my upcoming delivery in July. I really believe now that I can have a pain-free birth through Christ. Not only did this book open my eyes to a lot of things about labor/birth but in every day life in general as well.It has been transformative for my thought life.I have written so many quotes on note cards to review and help renew my mind with.Karissa Collins recommended this book to me when I told her I was afraid to surrender this part of my life over to God because of pregnant sickness and hard births.I would buy this over and over again! Will recommend to anyone I come across who is pregnant or hoping to conceive.

A must read! So helpful as a first time mama
This book was so helpful and changed my perspective on giving birth naturally. As a Christian it teaches not to depend on our own strength but the Lords. Backed by scripture and her own experiences, it is a positive look on birth and how we are created for it. I’ll be reading this more than once as I prepare for our babies arrival.

Brings A Spiritual Perspective to Pregnancy and Childbirth
Pros: Loved the poem in the beginning of the book. Although a devout and practicing Christian, I have never thought much about Christ's part in pregnancy and childbirth, so I am thoroughly enjoying incorporating this new perspective into my current (6th) pregnancy. I liked most of the scriptural passages. I loved thinking about how my faith can strengthen me during pregnancy and childbirth, and thinking about it all as more of a blessing than something to bemoan. The book definitely challenged me to strengthen my faith more and look to the Lord for guidance during pregnancy and childbirth.Cons: The book often had the overall feel of a bible study class where the author expounded her opinion on scripture, and a lot of times there was not a very clear or pertinent connection to childbirth... I found myself skipping sections that seemed to just be in there to fill pages. There was a lot of language used that I didn't understand... maybe because I am not a born again evangelical? I also noticed quite a few basic spelling mistakes like "your" when it should have been "you're," so the editing wasn't top notch. Finally, I found it hard to swallow that the author is very opposed to hypnobirthing practices to cope with contractions, and yet she explains different techniques she used to cope, like sitting on the toilet, taking a warm shower, or shaking her bum with her hands. I've personally used a lot of hypnobirthing breathing and visualization techniques to relax during contractions, and never experienced a loss of agency-- as the author claims a woman would have were she to practice hypnobirthing... so I think her fears come from a place of ignorance. Her other argument against it is that using hypnobirthing doesn't demonstrate faith in God, or is leaning too much on the arm of flesh... although at the same time, in her book she recommends practicing squats, exercising, eating right, etc. to prepare for childbirth. So, it's totally a matter of opinion, but I think that faithful Christian women can use hypnobirthing practices appropriately during labor and delivery, and I think her condemnation of them is over the top.

BUY THIS BOOK
This book was truly AMAZING. It opened my eyes to the difference between earthly views of childbirth and the supernatural birth God has set forth for women. Finished reading it in 3 days and would read it again and again!!

Not impressed.
As someone who is going through a horrible pregnancy, this was not the book for me. It seemed to me as I read this, that the author just bragged about he easy births and pregnancies. Yes, spoilers, she had a miscarriage. So have so many other women including me. That didn’t make it more relatable at all. As I understood it, any problems you have in your pregnancy is something wrong with you spiritually and you need to pray and figure out what it is so it’ll go away. Yeah. No. I have Hyperemesis Gravidarum and my bath mat in front of my toilet from throwing up ever hour has become my prayer mat. I haven’t lost my faith by any means, but the author’s take on the spiritual aspect on pregnancy is NOT a one size fits all. Especially when I’ve heard of women giving birth much like this woman without having a personal relationship with God. It depends on your body and your health BEFORE getting pregnant. I threw the book away after giving it a fair read. I couldn’t recommend this to anyone with good conscience because it can really screw with you if anything goes wrong in your pregnancy.
