Love her books
Love her books. This one was not as good as some of her others, but loved it as I lived through Hurricane Fran when I lived in NC.

Kezzie is the comic relief
This book further develops characters we have met in previous Knott books. It has a fairly happy ending. Sometimes I think Maron is totally anti-marriage and then she does something that makes you wonder. I love Kezzie Knott. I do not drink, but my grandfather was a bootlegger. He sure worked a con on that ignorant preacher.

I wish I had read these earlier books first
It was interesting to read about Deborah's life before marrying Dwight, but I wish I had read the books more in the order they were written because, taken together, they are really a continuing story.

Good read!!
I liked I didn't figure it out before Deborah. It started off a bit fragmented, but came together nicely. I recommend this book.

An exciting read
Set in North Carolina with at least one murder. The approach of Hurricane Fran adds tension to Margaret Maron's usually gripping writing and black/white relations add depth.
