Cheap tassel, will do the job unless you care about quality
The tassel is permanently attached, feels cheap and a little too "plastic" feeling. Really, you only wear these things twice a year if you are faculty, so it's not too big of a deal since it was so cheap. Just don't think you are getting a quality tam and tassel.
