Doug's Headers DEC250A 2-1/2" Electric Exhaust Cut-Out

Having these cutouts adds a new element of enjoyment to owning a hot rod, and are the most fun single car purchase I’ve ever made. In my state they are illegal to run open on a public highway, which means they are legal on private property. I open them up every time we pull into a parking lot, and at most car shows. I’m running a SBC with a Comp Cams 268 cam which makes a huge difference in how the cutouts sound. They make the cam/engine sound much bigger and more radical than it is. They also work well in keeping others from backing into your vehicle in close quarters as they demand attention.They are easy to hook up, but the provided switch didn’t look good in my truck so I wired mine up to a double pole double throw toggle switch. Sadly, after about 1 week of use, one of the units failed. After serious diagnosis I realized it was the device itself. This gave me the opportunity to discover how wonderful the customer service is at the manufacturer. Two days later I had a new/replacement unit (for a nominal deposit) which they promptly credited after I returned the dead cutout. I couldn’t have been happier with their support.I glad I had them professionally installed (behind my front tires). These things are rather heavy and as mounted on my vehicle they each bolt on to the end a conventional cutout pipe about 10” long. The guy doing the setup added gussets to those support pipes to add strength to the installation.

Been running these for years.. Allows quick and easy opening/closing to uncorked exhaust and they are easy to hook up (just remember to switch the wire polarity on one of the motors to have them close properly).

Cut outs are very good quality and they don’t leak exhaust. Just make sure you get collectors that you can rotate the flanges, so you can position the cut out however you need it, no matter how you weld the collector on.

Had to return because the three bolt pattern was different from the y-pipe fittings that were on the car. Then ordered the entire Doug's Headers kit which includes the y-pipe fittings.
