Easy to connect to ps4
Bought this portable hard drive to use with my playstation 4 to extend its storage capacity.Came within the time stated and was well packaged in clear hard plastic packaging inside the usual amazon box.Literally just plugged it into a spare usb slot on the front of the ps4 and it was recognized straight away.Ps4 formatted it and asked if I wanted to use as main storage and I was all done.Definitely recommend. My son has had a Seagate portable drive for his ps4 for more than a year and no problems (and it is heavily used). We have also taken it away with us when it was not possible to surgically remove him from his ps4 and it still works fine.

Perfect for Xbox One, especially game pass
Got the 2TB Amazon Special one over a month ago now and cant fault it. Got it to use with my original Xbox One as I have the gamepass and the 500gb internal could only hold ~10 games at a time.As soon as I plugged it in it asked to format it and then it was ready for use with the xbox. I downloaded every game that looked interesting which just about filled it. I have 80 installed. My xbox is in my bedroom and it was downloading games all day and night for a week and it was totally silent. It does have a super subtle white LED which is just enough to see it's on without lighting up the room.So far does the trick perfectly. I'll update if I run into any issues but for now I cant complain.

SMR rears its ugly head. Or why else does write speed fall off a cliff after you write >2TB to it.
I filled this drive up with approximately 1.6TB of media files. I wanted to change what was on there, so deleted 600GB, and then started copying some more files over. Write speed, which was around 80MB/s when new, dropped to speeds as stupidly low as a few Kb/s (yes, Kb/s, not even Mb/s). I'm sure this drive uses Shingled Magnetic Recording, which allows Seagate to make a 2TB drive rather than a 1.5TB drive, at the expense of making the effective write endurance of the drive worse than a cheapy Chinese SSD. For backups it is still good value, but you really have to start seeing these drives as a kind of WORM (Write Once Read Many) media. They have taken the advantage that spinning disks still held over SSDs (the amount of times you can overwrite) and threw it under a bus in order to squeeze a few more GB into the same package. If Seagate would offer both a 1.5TB (or even 1TB) non SMR (i.e. PMR) drive at the same price as a 2TB SMR drive, I'd take the PMR drive with reduced capacity for most purposes. Disappointed with Seagate and hard drive manufacturers in general.
