Witty, twisty-mystery for the superhero in all of us!
I had high expectations for The Queen Con, the much anticipated follow-up to the Golden Arrow Mysteries series starter, The Frame-Up (which I gave a 5 star review). I was not disappointed. This twisty-mystery book cemented my position as enthusiastic nerd herd devotee. This book has it all: Superheros, Comic book Nerds, Gamer Geeks, Drag Queens, intrigue and romance all neatly wrapped up in a witty, adventure-filled ride the reader can’t help but enjoy. Case in point, the roller coaster ride of emotions this book provoked in me. MG’s and Matteo’s (swoon!) relationship is evolving, and MG is going through some growing pains as she navigates her first serious relationship. This left me feeling hopeful and happy to anxious and angry. MG’s emotions and actions are authentic and relatable, although I still wanted to shout at and shake her many times for her thoughts and behaviors. And eclipsing this is the mystery and danger that surround MG and her crew, specifically Lawrence and Ryan. There were many moments of deep, nail-biting concern for them. Meghan Scott Molin’s writing style masterfully draws me in to MG’s world, a world that often feels simultaneously magical and ominous. I’m eager for the next installment in this clever mystery series.

A bit better than the first book
This one was a little bit better than the first in terms of the plot, despite there still being moments when I felt utterly confused. I don't know if it was because there were so many different little mysteries contained within one big mystery, or how they were referenced indistinguishably from one another to the point where sometimes I wasn't sure if they were talking about the actual Golden Arrow or the imposter Golden Arrow, or considering them to be one and the same?Anyway, aside from the confusing moments in the plot, the characters remained great and I loved seeing MG's growth as a character continue in this book. I also enjoyed seeing more personality from Matteo, and seeing how their relationship was growing. It was also nice to not have as many fandom references thrown in for funsies, but sadly the ones that were were still often kind of cringey or eye-roll inducing.Otherwise, a fun and enjoyable read that had me continuously hooked!

A humorous contemporary mystery/romantic comedy with diverse characters
The Queen Con by Meghan Scott Molin is a humorous contemporary mystery/romantic comedy with diverse characters: a geeky female main character (Michael-Grace), her straight-laced cop boyfriend (Matteo), and her drag-queen best friend (Lawrence) along with beaucoup geeksters as secondary characters. As with the prior novel in the series, the tone is slightly snarky, and the pace clips along rapidly, keeping me fully focused on the novel. Most enjoyable is that MG, tired of men trying to change her, has given up on relationships, yet remains a woman fully-functioning on her own. She is courageous and determined, doesn’t wait around to be “saved” by a man, and remains delightfully geeky and, though comfortable with herself, a bit out of place in the real world. The slow-burn sexual tension between MG and Matteo is charming. The blend of romance and mystery is deftly woven. People who enjoy Star Trek, classic comic books, mysteries, and contemporary romantic comedies will enjoy this book.

Fun novel
This was my first audio book, and I think I might be addicted. Being able to listen to a novel and cross stitch at the same time is wonderful! And for some reason, listening to the audio gives me more urgency to get back to the book, maybe because I could be listening while doing other things. The Queen Con is a fun sequel, and it’s nice to see MG’s world become more real to the reader. I also appreciate that MG is really growing and changing through these books - it helps make her feel like someone I know. Any more books in this series will be on my must-buy list!

More than entertaining
Once again, Megan delivers an entertaining story that is much more than that. There's suspense, action and romance, but, it is the portrayal of people who don't look like me that make it a rewarding read. She offers insight into people whose lifestyles and day to day choices I don't understand in a way that makes me wish I could in real life. (Go ahead and call me judgemental here. I'll admit to that sin. Megan is trying to help me past that.) Another major theme is that of MG's personal growth. Of being courageous, open to change, and accepting people that she previously would have written off. MG is a good role model. The one thing that is missing is some science fiction, bring on the space monkeys!

A disappointing sequel
The Frame Up was such a brilliant novel. I just couldn't wait for the sequel and pre-ordered it the moment Amazon made it available.Unfortunately, The Queen Con just didn't live up to my expectations for so many reasons. The author had such a wonderful set of characters, ones I actually cared about, but couldn't elevate them or the plotting to the promise of her first incredible novel. It was a bit of work to finish the book, but I saw it through to the end.

A solid story
Just as MG, and her friends are feeling secure that the bad guys are in jail.A new drug lord has appeared, and signs that the Golden Arrow is once again on the move has the police and MG as a consultant going in circles. As they start to close in, the people Michael Grace Martin cares the most about start getting seriously hurt. She has to put a plan in place, even if it involves those she doesn't care about to help bring out the new baddie.Another story, that although it started slow finish with a great ending and was every bit as enjoyable as the first one.

Good, but...
I like the storyline and it is a good sequel. However, I find the cliches and references take away from the story. It works for the dialog from some of the characters, but not for the narrative between the dialog. Maybe it's just me.

Fun, but not as good as Book One
Not as good as the first in the series, but still quite fun. I love the set up and the characters but I just didn’t like the plot as much this time and didn’t find it quite a funny as the first. But second books are hard so I’ll still be looking for the third because this has such potential as a series. You definitely need to have read the first in the series to get the most out of this.

Another great adventure with MG
Nerds and geeks, comic book fans and everyone else will love this as much as the first in the series. MG is such a fun witty character, I knew I would buy book two and it was as bouncy and witty as I expected. Lots of geeky quotes from MG are such fun and seemed perfectly suited to the action. And the author loves Doctor Who as well! As someone who watched the original series (yes I am that old), I can't fail to enjoy her work. Onwards and upwards.

You need to read The Frame Up first
Carries straight on from the first book, just as enjoyable. Does come across more young adult but still fun to read. Definitely been left open for a third book.

A fun ride
So great to jump back into MG and Hot Lantas story. Back on the trail of the Golden Arrow and it even more intriguing. Loved the character development and look forward to more to come.

And the queen said: Off with her head!
Ok this makes 2 of this series I've read. Not often that I give 5 stars to the second on a series but this one as good or better than the first one was. MG is a really fun character and I love all the geeky references she throws out.
