Best Guidebook for Ireland
Rick Steves's guides are great. I like this guidebook better than the longer Rick Steves Ireland 2017 , as it gives just enough of all the main Ireland highlights and includes lots of pictures. I've been looking at guidebooks for a year while planning my trip, and this one is the best one of all of the recently published Ireland guidebooks. It's lightweight, so easy to carry while traveling. After I had pared down all of the must-see destinations for my upcoming trip, I picked this guidebook up and found that it covered all of my planned destinations with just enough detail. I also recommend the Lonely Planet guides Lonely Planet Dublin (Travel Guide) and Lonely Planet Ireland (Travel Guide) .

Our guidebook for a trip abroad
My husband and I toured all over the island of Ireland by car, and bought this guidebook to help. We appreciated the listing of different sights to see, as well as the maps. We used the "Dublin" section of the book especially, when we spent time in the city! This is a great book if you are going to be spending time at various different locations across the Emerald Isle.

What a life saver! We practically followed his itinerary to the "T". Instead of going from Dublin to Kilkenny - in other words - driving south - we started our trip with driving West and stayed our 1st night in Gallway. Took his suggestions all the way. Worth every penny and I would highly recommend you buy this book if you plan to road trip through Ireland. My husband and I went to Ireland 6 years ago and we did not have a guide book and what a difference it makes. I wish I had this on our first trip.

Rick Steves "Best of Ireland" guidebook is quite enjoyable to read because he makes it so personable; however. he excludes certain areas of Ireland completely and only reviews those areas that are of interest to him. It is for that reason I gave it 4 stars rather than five.

Good, solid book--just not what I needed
I was disappointed that there were so few dining options the one time I referred to this book on a recent trip.If I were planning a trip by myself or for a group of friends, I would recommend the COMPLETE GUIDE . . .There was nothing especially wrong -- it just didn't meet my need when I tried to use it as a reference. As always, I don't think anyone can beat the recommendations of locals.

A wonderful companion
We just returned from Ireland and this was a great tool to have. We didn't have much time to plan this trip due to other personal events and mostly followed this guide while we were there. We were in Ireland 2 weeks and just planned 2 days at a time, mostly following Rick Steve's book. This was a great help and is very well organized.

I probably should not have gotten Best of.
I probably should not have gotten Best of ...as I was really looking for off the beaten path places. This covers all the typical tourist stops
