Barry White forever!
I absolutely love this dvd by Barry White! It tells the story of his humble roots, interviews done by him (super sexy voice!), his family and friends tell stories about him, the ones who helped him in the music business, and sadly his last days on earth. One thing I noted in the story is toward the end of it: He actually died of a stroke instead of losing his kidneys due to hypertension (high blood pressure) as the newspaper wrongly said it was. Long time ago one of my aunts told me that she did not like Barry White because she thought he was an womanizer, you know, pretty nasty because of the lyrics of his music. At the time I was one of Jehovah's Witnesses (she was too) and I went along with her thinking on this. That organization strongly frowns upon suggestive lyrics and music. I was kicked out there back in the year 2000, and ever since then I've been listening to artists like him, along with Isaac Hayes and many more artists and I saw what I missed out on. They are decent people and their music and lyrics depict love, romance and passion on a great level. They're not flat out indecent like the many modern artists that you hear these days who do a lot of cussing, violent themes, very degrading acts of sex. In a way I'm glad I don't associate with religious groups like the Jehovah's Witnesses who cut down people like Barry White. They're in a class by themselves and they're great people to associate with. Rest in peace Barry.

And he did...
This, my friends was indeed an eye-opener in terms of who this great Artist really was. It is a very poignant, in-depth look at the Maestro. His life was deeper than his voice. His death should have had the very same violins playing that graced his Love Unlimited Orchestra. It's a true, rags-to-riches story that also has stark reminders of how selfish those who sometimes attach themselves to us can be. In the end, it's only a few sincere loved ones...After watching, I felt blessed to have spent my formulative years learning how to love the opposite sex to a Barry White soundtrack. He brought the melody, and gave us the lyrics. Truly a gifted musician and and fantastic Father. It's a must-add to your musician biographies section. Lesson learned.

A brief 'bio' on BW's career which was told very well!
First of all, I'd highly recommend this DVD for any Barry White music lover! Although there are only segments taken from a few of Barry's various concerts, it is very well put together. BW's music is seamlessly entwined so beautifully throughout portions of the story-line. Great job JP!In addition, it was a very nice touch hearing from producer-writers such as Gambel & Huff and of course Smokey Robinson share a bit of their personal experiences and views on Barry.July 4, 2003....the day Barry White crossed over into the next dimension was a sad day for those of us who loved his music. In this DVD, as his family shares with us tragic events that took place in his last days, I was literally in tears. They truly went through a tough time. Sad...so sad.Well, on the positive side, Barry White left behind a beautiful loving family, and a legacy of beautiful orchestrated music to the world. My dear Maestro, you will NOT be forgotton.Excellent DVD!!!

Prolific documentary speaking in-depth
Barry White was a legend ahead of his time plus he was a genius himself and a good father and a family man. He been gone for almost 10 years ago but it's hard to believe how great a legacy he left us that'll last a lifetime plus how his death shattered so many people all across.Barry was the real epitome on what real music is about and yeah he's one of the true ambassadors of not only making love music but soul and American music. You can't deny that. The ending of the documentary had me in tears while watching this on my dvd player and wanted real truth of what happened during his final moments in life. This DVD to me is one of the best ever with good bonus features and great commentaries from the people that knew him best plus his family. They'll never be another like The Maestro. He Lives Forever in his music.

Amazed and Astonished!!
First of all, I'm an old school guy and a real music lover, whether it be R&B, Jazz, Classical and even sometimes country music. I've been listen to Barry White since 1960 for those of you who didn't know he had been out here that long. I have every one of his albums, every one!, and I have damn near wore them out. Please note, this is not a "Live Concert" by any means, it is an excellent documentary about the life and times of "The Maestro" himself. Please; if you were ever a Barry White fan, do not deprive yourself of buying this DVD. You will be completely "Astonished and Amazed",especially during the days leading up to the end of his life. I couldn't wait to tell somebody about it, well done!!

All that glitters aint gold
The story starts out with his rough upbringing, which is typical in most African American beginnings, but the going against his mothers wishes and going to Hollywood to find his destiny was semi inspirational along with his putting together of the group Love Unlimited was reminiscent of the another Berry Gordy and the Supremes. Barry White was truly an icon of the love ballads and the baby making music especially if it was true that it could not read or write music, but the concluding of the DVD puzzled me deeply cause it concluded so tragically, until I watch a video interview of his where he referenced that his mind was his God, then the ending made sense to me.
