Super sharp and easy to use
This knife is super sharp and very nicely balanced, easy to use for a variety of tasks whether I'm slicing peppers or steaks, a real dream to use! At the time of this review, I have been using it regularly (3-4x/week) for 1.5 years, and it is still awesome to use.The only downside is that I find it does need to be sharpened/honed on a fairly frequent basis. If you don't like to sharpen knives, this will be a pain to you. I don't mind it - I have a nice knife sharpener in my kitchen and it only takes a few minutes. Literally, 20-30 strokes, and the knife is back to being razor-sharp and like new!

Great utility knife at a great price
Very nice knife. I have large hands so the grip is perfect but might be too large for some. For some reason, safety? The last 1/4” (6mm) or so of the blade adjacent to the grip was not sharpened. Not a major detriment however. As with most budget-friendly knives the blade angle is about 40 degrees and pretty rough but very sharp. It will take some time to reprofile the blade but after several weeks of almost daily use it is still razor sharp. Good value.

For the price, it's fantastic. If you want good qualty cutlery, spend more money.
I was getting ready to rate this a three when I realized that I only paid eleven dollars for it! For an eleven dollar knife, it's fantastic, good balance, good feel. Why was it going to be three stars? First, not dishwasher safe (as stated in the description so no surprise) and in today's world, how hard is it to use materials that are safe. I haven't hand washed a load of dishes in twenty years and won't start now so when it falls apart form dishwasher use, my fault. The other problem is holding an edge. It comes razor sharp but doesn't hold that edge very long and needs a few passes through the sharpener almost every time. Now, the edge comes back nicely and the blade is thin enough that it's very efficient and easy to use. The size is ideal for a lot of what I do in the kitchen and I recently bought essentially the same style from a very expensive maker and while it's a noticeably nicer piece of cutlery, it's not five times nicer.

Sharp quality knife, handle a bit bulky but comfortable
This knife works very well, has a comfortable, safe grip. I think most people would like it. For me the handle is a little bulky in the wooden knife rack, but it does fit. And the blade stains/spots and doesn't stay polished. But that doesn't seem to affect the usage or long-term reliability. Just a slight visual issue for me, probably not a problem for most people. I do recommend the knife with the above caveats.

Sharp quality utility style knife
Excellent sharp blade as I’ve come to expect from Mercer knives. For me this size blade perfect bridges the gap between my chef knife and my paring knife. The handle is a bit large, more like you’d find on a chefs knife. That could be off putting if you prefer a smaller handle or have small hands. But I took to the handle quickly. A very good knife for the money.

Best knives I've ever had
I bought the Chefs knife first over a year ago and it is STILL razor sharp - literally drops through water mellon, meat, apples, etc. This chefs knife is a great knive. Balanced, high handle to save your knuckles, light enough to prevent fatigue, grippy handle. So I bought the pairing knive about 10 months ago - also sharp as a razor to this day. So I bought the 6" knife today.I'll never buy standard knives again.

Brutally sharp, but use it what its meant for.
This isn't a chef's knife, it is a utility knife. It should be used in that manner. It is also a foodservice grade knife, so it won't me some heirloom you hand down. It'll take a few resharpenings, but this won't last forever. That's okay, its an inexpensive knife. But, for an inexpensive knife, it does its job well. This thing is crazy sharp and holds an edge pretty well. The blade is also relatively flexible. Use it as a utility knife and don't cry over spilled milk if you damage the blade. Just buy another, its cheap. If you treat a blade with the same functionality but 10x the price the same way, you'll still be in the same boat.

Yep..as comfy as a 2.99 knife from Properjob...& about as sharp.
Goes blunt everytime you dare to use it...even whilst using it.Difficult to get an edge back each time I find.Like the larger chef knife from Mercer & the chef knife from Victorinox...both returned 'cos the hype is BS.Find yourself a good old knife that your granny would've used, at a boot fair or charity shop...a proper knife that'll still sharpen to perfection, remain sharp for a good long while & last you another 40yrs on top of the 40 it's already done.If today's generation of chefs are happy to accept knives of this quality as `good` then I pity the poor sods!

The base of the handle sticks out too far!
This knife is exceptionally sharp but it is impossible to cut all the way through ingredients as the base of the handle prevents you from slicing all the way through the item (eg a large onion). The only way to do this is to use the tip end of the knife. This is fine for smaller items but you lose the stability for larger bulkier ingredients. I would have given 2 stars for this reason but was impressed with how sharp it is and is good for thinly slicing mushrooms for example.

Good solid knife
Have others in this line, bought this to add to the collection. Nice finish, cuts great. Easy to hold and manoeuvre. Same size handle as the wide chef’s knife, so you won’t notice a difference in grip.Would recommend.

Buyer beware. Would NOT recommend and request a refund asap please.
My original same model Kitchen Devil has lasted 10 years and with sharpening still good. This one does NOT seem an original after some weeks of use, chopping my usual veg and fruit. This new knife does NOT easily cut/slice my usual veg and fruit like my old Kitchen Devil knife.
