A So So product with Terrible Customer Service!
This review is for the Archos 80G9. Well this product is sub standard as far as tablets go, I really only used it for the web and for watching movies. Besides having to buy extra add-ons to watch a lot of movies, there is also a Huge problems with with the Tablet Freezing, and having to reset it all the time. The quality is flimsy, it's made of cheap Plastic. And now for the really bad part. I went on Vacation and didn't use my Archos for a week and now when i plug the charger in it blinks once and won't charge. And when u try to contact customer Service They want you to do everything thru email, which I did I showed them my Invoice and they said it doesnt have a Proof of purchase. what more would they want besides your original Amazon invoice so now I'm out over 350 dollars. Don't waste your money or your Time!

Not what I ordered
This tablet came from J&R through the Amazon page. It arrived very quick (2 Days)and the shipping was cheap. Only $13.Now for the bad:Ordered per website a 1.5 GHZ tablet with 1GB of ram. I received a 1.2 GHZ processor and slightly less than 500mb of ram.So how can they sell me something that is not what they advertise/ So much for truth in Advertising. So how well does the tablet work. Well its hit or miss. It plays movies just fine. Pictures look good. It plays mp3's ok. Now if you change screens like to your email the music will pause for a second. Very annoying. Even my $100 Coby does a better job. And my transformer is way better. The tablet freezes a few times a day. Buttons can take multiple presses sometimes to get to work.I don't know if is because it is busy thinking and can't do two thinks at once or if the screen is just that bad. About 40% of the time it doesn't respond on the first press.Large PDF files work wonderful. Even better than my transformer. Scrolling is very fast. As well as page refresh. They got that right. Now with a 250gb hard drive you would think it would be easy to get all your docs, pdf and music etc on it. Not so. When I first tried it I used windows media player to put some music on there. I moved over 20gb of music. It failed after 15gb. I moved over a couple mb of pictures. It failed about 1/10th the way. I moved over some video. It failed after a couple files. Had to reboot. Tried again. No luck at all with a single file. Got onto chat with tech support. There answer as always. Format and start over. Now this thing is only a full charge old. So I did. Now Media Player moves files ok. Still failes but not as often. So I switched to there other mode of transferring files Camera Mode. In this day and age what NO DIRECT USB TRANSFER. WTF!! Ok camera mode failed every time before the reformat. It worked for a little while after the format but after a few files stopped working and has not worked since. I have tried several computers and all have the same effect. They can't transfer files using the tablet camera mode.My only slow option is to use wireless for apk, pdf, xls and doc files. Wireless on this thing os slow. It takes 10 min to transfer a 50mb file. On all my other devices even my Coby files transfer faster Way faster wireless. The fit and finish is not to bad. Still a bit sub par for the price but not bad. Yes if you press hard on the back of the device you will see your fingers come through the screen but it is what it is. I like the size. Weight is not to bad. Its not to thick. Now if it was what they advertised and able to transfer files to its massive hard drive it would be great. Well and if it didn't frees up 3 to 5 times a day.Batter is ok. The hard drive sucks allot of power. As long as your not transferring files you can get 5 to 6 hours out of it playing music watching videos and looking at pictures and reading books. Turn on WiFi and move files and it goes down to 3 to 4 hours. Like a Acer or Coby.If my Coby had at least Honeycomb and a multi touch screen it would be a far better tablet for far better price than this one.Would I buy another. Good question. I like the size and hard drive. Other than that its to unstable. Think of Vista and make it 4 times worse and you have a Archos 80 G9.

Dynamite external hard drive, less useful tablet
I originally bought this because my music collection was choking the harddrive of my laptop, my Ipod was also filling up, and I was interested in seeing what all the tablet brouhaha was about.Takes quite a while to transfer files, and the file manager is unintuitive and offers no search function, but that's besides the point because that's not what most people use it for.I haven't used it much as a tablet because the battery life is pretty atrocious. On a long bus/plane trip, it has enough juice (fully charged, with wifi and gyroscope off, screen just bright enough to be legible, and volume down low enough to be audible, only running the video program) to play a movie and a half. With the screen off, it lasts about twice that long, but why for the love of God would you not just use an mp3 player at a quarter the size?I don't know if all tablets are like this or just this one, but it can't charge through USB, it needs to be plugged into 120V mains. AND when I run it while plugged in, the battery DRAINS! I was watching a Netflix movie a few days ago while charging, and it shut itself down due to low battery. I let it charge back up, and ran the same program while watching the battery monitor, and sure enough wall power isn't enough to counteract the drain. As I said in the title, I feel bad complaining, since it performs the only function I wanted (be a compromise between a new ipod and a new harddrive) well enough, but it is frustrating that there's so much potential that I can't access unless I'm attached to mains power, and also willing to turn it off every hour or so to let the battery catch its breath.

I'm not a big tablet person, i dont know much about them. But what i do know is i hate apple and this worked great. It shows videos really well, which is what i primarily needed it to do. It also was shipped very quickly by seller ( not sure who your seller is). Its clear and bright... Good battery life. Large screen... A little on the heavy side but that doesnt bother me. Bottom line, i would recommend this to a friend. And I already have. Value for the money!
