Painless Pre-Algebra (Barron's Painless)

Easy to read and easy to understand. Tutorial made easy!

This book has been great for additional enrichment to my son's pre-algebra class. I homeschool him and it has really made a difference in how he sees and understands pre-algebra. I wouldn't use it as a stand alone unless you are using it for a refresher.

We are not too deep into this book, so I could not give it 5 stars. My 14 year old is struggling with Algebra, so I bought this book to help her. So far, the topics that she is learning in Algebra one are all in this pre-algebra book. I assign my daughter several pages to read and do before I get home from work each day, and she has been able to get them done with no help from me. This book explains the math in an easy to understand way.If you are a parent that struggles with math, this series of math books is exactly what you need to help your kids. Terms are defined, there are examples to follow, and then there are "brain busters" that give your child several problems to do. Answers to the practice problems are in the book, so you can check your child's work. Overall, I am satisfied with this book. It seems to be making a difference in my daughter's math skills. I also purchased Painless Algebra, but have not had to use it yet.

This helped my grandson study for his ISEE. Very helpful.

My soon-to-be 8th grader has been working her way through this book all summer to stay current on math so September isn't a surprise. It's not a perfect match for what they learned in pre-algebra this year -- but that's maybe a good thing, so that she can start learning some new concepts ahead of algebra 1. She said that it explains the concepts pretty well, and having the answers in the back means she can work independently and be sure she's on the right track.

Only into Chapter One and have already come across 3 typos. Except for that, it seems to explain the subjects well.

I reluctantly purchased this book after reading a review which stated that there was an error regarding the zero power rule. I am happy to report that the error referenced is correctly written in my book. Just looked over the book for my seventh grader. It looks great and I love that the size is smaller than the standard workbook or textbook.

I like their series due to the ease of points made, examples. Very helpful.
