PACIR-X Infrared Extender

Used this IR repeater to install Pioneer stereo in vehicle that did not have built in steering wheel controls. Repeater enabled better placement of steering wheel mounted remote and more functional use when wheel is off center that would have been possible. Mounted repeater receiver on steering wheel position adjustment lever on left of column and ran emitter to over head console in center of vehicle in front of head unit. Works fantastic and emitter is never "blinded" by other parts of vehicle such as shift lever like it had been when original remote was placed on right side of steering wheel to try to get it to be able to transmit to head unit. This installation is using Pioneer CD-SR100 remote with AVH-X8500BHS head unit in otherwise original 2002 Toyota Sequoia.

I am very disappointed in this product. Even adding my own 12v power supply, which the description fails to indicate is needed, this thing doesn't work unless you're sitting right in front of it. Across the room is spotty and slow at best, but mostly just doesn't work at all. I got no direct response from the company. The "IR-X HOME version" was suggested by Amazon when I complained, but I'm not going to chance it. With a 20% restocking fee and no refund on shipping, plus having to pay return shipping myself, there's little left if I were to send this turkey back. Maybe it will work for some other project. If you want to have your components inside a cabinet and work from across the room, this is NOT the product for you. I'm not sure what it IS for. A car with a stereo in the trunk, maybe? [The (automotive) modifier only showed up after I previewed this review!]. Amazon needs to do a better job of seeing that outside vendor's products have adequate descriptions.

This little extender is awesome! I have my radio installed in my glove box so needed this so my remote would work. Works great and easy to install.

Receiver is not quite sensitive enough - sometimes have to be right on top of it for it to respond - which kinda defeats the purpose.

Works as advertised. No instructions for install but you can find online.

Easy to install. worked flawlessly. I put my receiver in the trunk of my hotrod. The remote controls it perfectly.
