Tried and True....
Came across these patches after my 1st spinal fusion. I couldn't use Fentanyl patches because of a stomach medication I take. These patches SAVED MY LIFE!! My first fusion I received 27 staples down my lower back. The pain was CRAZY!! This product Put A DENT in that pain!! After my second fusion along with an additional 22 staples I wasn't worried because I had the secret!! I will say I like the "Original" SalonPas. I feel the patches stick to the skin much better than the Gel Patches. The Gel Patches are great! I just don't like having to surgical tape the edges down to keep them from curling up. I also Love the roll on and the gel. I can't do the spray because that Ish is COLD!!!

Older patch worked MUCH better
I am not sure when Salonpas changed their patch but they ruined a great product. I've used Salonpas for over ten years. The last time I purchased them was 2 years ago - I bought them in bulk and recently ran out. I purchased them recently and everything about them is different. The older ones were much sturdier and had a fabric-type of backing. They stayed in place all day/night and never came off until I took them off. These newer patches do not stay in place - they are so flimsy and curl up and fall off easily. I'm so disappointed.

Relief For Advanced Degenerative Arthritis Pain
Without these patches, I couldn’t use my right shoulder. Therefore I wouldn’t be able to use my dominant hand. These patches relieve the pain to a tolerable level. I can use that right arm. Do I play tennis no, but I can feed myself without embarrassment. For people like me who have degenerative arthritis so advanced, eating independently is a huge win.

No Lidocaine, terrible smell, thin and flimsy. Contains ingredients not mixed with blood thinners
Ok, I searched for lidocaine patches. This company offered them in packaging that appears identical in terms of box color, shape, etc. I was looking for the lowest price as there were several different configurations offered if you purchased multiple boxes. Apparently even lacking the search term used, (lidocaine) if a product has the word patch in it then it is included. I am certain I am not the first person who given the look of the box, thought they were still looking at Lodocaine patches. This is an Amazon problem as items not matching the search criteria should be included under a heading that it contains only part of the search. This is how eBay does it. Then when a company offers different items in near identical packaging you would be alerted. The next issue is the oder. It smells horrid. The next issue is that the patch is a thin, flimsy material that wrinkles easily and will be a bear to keep straight on the skin.Lastly I am pretty sure the pain relieving chemical in the patch is like aspirin and should not be used by anyone taking blood thinners without first talking with your physician. My insurance company continues denying coverage for the lidocaine patches I have used for 15 years. Pain pills covered, patches not covered.........anyone else see how foolish that is in light of the opioid crisis? With the good rx app I can get the prescription required 5% patch for $75 for a box of 30. In my case I was better off when all lidocaine patches regardless of strength required a prescription as it was then covered by insurance! It did take physician documentation to get preapproval but it was covered eventually. Now there is a product similar in the marketplace the insurance company denies coverage.

Good pads but...
I purchased both these Salonpas and the Aspercreme pads in case of emergency and was glad I had them on hand when I went to get out of bed the day before yesterday and my left hip didn't support my weight and I felt intense pain. My hip had misaligned, it must've twisted in my sleep. I took all day and most of the evening yesterday to do a self-adjustment and by the time I got it in place last night my hip was extremely swollen. I spent the next 24 hours with my heating pad and OTC pain meds but woke up this morning and still no relief.I showered, towel dried, allowed the area to air dry a bit longer, and applied two Salonpas pads to the area. I've read mixed reviews but my personal experience was almost immediate cooling relief, and while I was able to move a bit easier unfortunately the relief wasn't enough.Almost immediately they began peeling off on their own even though I was wearing yoga pants over them to help hold them in place. I believe it was because there's no stretch to them whatsoever. The directions indicate not to wear one pad for more than 8 hours, but it also says you shouldn't use more than 2-3 pads in 24 hours so I'm going to sleep with the pads on overnight and remove them in the morning before I shower. Then I'll wait a few hours before applying the Aspercreme pads and update.Update -Day 2: Applied Aspercreme pads today and found they are much more flexible. They also gave me more relief upon application. While they stayed in place for the first few hours, I was disappointed when they began peeling away from my skin just like the others. So far me the Aspercreme worked better because of their flexibility, the amount of immediate relief they gave me, and their ability to stick in place for the first few hours even though they started peeling off later.
