Beautiful illustrations, somewhat limited text, just a very small overview of the subject. Note that the book is very small in format!!! For the price quite disappointing.

The illustrations on almost every single page are gorgeous, & are very well annotated with interesting/informative descriptive text all over the place. Much more than I was expecting, based on other books I've seen/purchased on this subject. The whole series must be amazing.

the format of this book really uses well attractive images beautifully to illustrate and describe the history art buildings sites and artefacts of the period - it is much more accessible than the standard 'academic' text but contains what most readers would want to know. A great introduction to the era and/or companion to the more serious books
