So far so good!
I have never used a straight razor in my life before this. I have a fairly long beard growing from my chin, and a shorter trimmed length on my face, and I shave my neck area to highlight the bearded areas. I have used safety razors from Dollar Shave Club and more recently Harry's and you do get what you pay for there. But I wanted a more precise trim that I suspect I can only get from a straight razor. This seemed like a good price on a good looking blade, so I tried it.My first time shaving, I did not cut myself. Which admittedly is less of a product review and more me bragging. I used the included leather belt to strop the blade before use, as it was not shave-ready. I did look up videos on how to do this. My first attempt shaving with this was not perfect, but with practice I expect it'll improve (and I'll post here how it turns out). My first shave was closer than a cheap single-blade razor, but maybe not as close as the 6 blade DSC blade, nor as close as the Harry's blade. It did cut much more precisely right next to the jaw line, which is why I'm going to straight razors. So I call this a win.The handle is a thin, light wood attached with a torx style screw. It looks nice and didn't fall apart when I first used it. The blade is stainless steel, which I've since read is less preferable to high carbon steel, but it took an edge well enough to remove hair. It held an edge through the amount of shaving I did; if you're buying a blade to shave your entire face and maybe your head, maybe you'd find you need to hone it part-way through. I feel like it's a good practice razor, since it won't rust up if you forget to dry it sufficiently. I tried half my face with shaving gel and half with bar soap. Both work fine, but I can already see where the process of a hot towel and fancy shaving gels/creams might improve the quality of the shave.Bottom line, I'd recommend this if, like me, you're getting into shaving with a straight razor. Take your time and get the feel of the angles you have to hold the blade. It is not like a safety razor, and that's just how it's supposed to be. You trade quick-shave for precise shaving, and I think I'm going to find I spend more time shaving, but this seems to make the act more fun; even if only for that elite manly feeling society has told me comes with shaving with a straight razor.

Read to go!
I love it, and this is my second razor since I decided to shave as my ancestors did.And honestly, It took my shaving to the next level. It was very sharp and ready to go out of the box. Now I am still learning and experimenting, and it's an excellent starting point.

Simple easy to use straight razor.
I would say this is a great razor to use as a starter. You will need the strap to keep it Sharp, but it does hold a pretty good edge. If you're thinking of switching over to a straight razor, this is a good starting point. It is what it is and it does what it says, and for under $20. Add your favorite shaving cream and you are good to go!Compared to a $200 lifetime razor, this is a good way to decide if you wish to be that committed to your shaves.
