Product is a compact oven. It is limited to basically meat, potatoes, non-juicy or liquidy foods but if you can find the oven safe containers it's a great unit. If you overfill beyond the recommended 3lbs limit it takes much longer to cook. Either do smaller batches or just keep meals to 2-3 people only. The disposable containers included work great but are pretty flimsy for longterm use. Awesome to cook with the sun though!

I've used solar for years. This style is great because it retains heat like a thermos so it continues cooking when it gets cloudy, unlike other solar box ovens. Bought it one year ago and used it quite a bit, now it needs a new gasket because heat is beginning to seep out.

We have cooked a number of food items in this wonderful solar oven from fruit strudels to burritos, beans, soups and hot dogs. We load up the foil containers and set it in the sun. About 60 to 90 min later the temp on the gauge reads about 250-270F and items are nicely cooked and bubbling. We also use Walfos Mini Silicone Loaf Pan Set - 4 Pieces Non-Stick Silicone Bread Loaf Pans that work great in this oven.

This particular cooker offers ease of storage & setup. I purchased individual solar tubes years ago and made the carriers & reflector panels myself. This is way more compact & will make a loaf of barley bread or biscuits just as fast as the home made version. Thermometer readings are always misleading on solar cookers. I suspect they may radiate infra red energy inside which is absorbed by the food, which is not readily detected by a regular thermometer that senses air temp alone. The thermometer started out at ambient temp, and only reached 250 after 2 hrs on a slightly above average sun day. Yet the bread came out just fine after 2 hours. This particular one performs as well as the home made solar cooker I made and the reflectors on the home made unit were 4 to 5 times larger. So it's a pretty good unit for a solar cooker that uses zero electricity or fuel of any kind. We keep solar cookers on hand for the aftermath of hurricanes, which can leave one without power for extended periods of time, and we use the solar cookers periodically to keep our solar cooking skills fresh. Besides, it's kinda fun to serve the family a meal cooked by nothing but sunshine while you went about your business doing other things.

The media could not be loaded. Spent a total of an hour and a half cooking bacon and mushrooms. The temperature outside was 80° F with Wildfire smoke blocking a lot of the sun rays. Still worked with the conditions and cooked the mushrooms and bacon well. I’m sure if the sun wasn’t like 70% blocked by smoke it would have taken less time to heat up and cook.

This things absolutely rages!! I can cook eggs at 9am from spring through fall, and cooked food all winter long, from 10:00-2:00, at 30 to 40 degrees. Great design. Super stable. Who needs propane?!?

I bought this for grid-down emergencies. Our first try at thawed chicken thighs was a success! The meat was done and juicy. Clean up is easy and, right now, am satisfied with the purchase and results.
