Wholesome & funny. Great storyline.
.5 🌶ForbiddenWorkplace RomanceSlow burnMutal PiningSocial Anxiety RepresentationRomcomA wholesome slow burn with a fun storyline. Loved delving into Everly's mannerisms and how she deals with social anxiety. Loved the concept of the listeners rallying for her in the radio version of Bachelorette.Chris' desire to execute his plan is really relatable. But like real life, things happen that either alter or change what those plans should look like. Having the courage to make changes is what helps us grow.I really loved how his brothers rallied for him and the chance for him to be happy. Chris and Stacey were perfect for Everly. They saw her anxiety but didn't treat her differently. It was a great story from beginning to end.

Fun read!
The storyEverly is the producer of a radio show, and Stacey is the deejay and her best friend. When a terrible thing happens on her birthday, it accidentally gets broadcast and changes everything. The station manager Chris ends up getting closer to Everly while the station organises a series of dates, Bachelor-style, for Everly to go on. It’s good for business, but Everly’s serious anxiety is challenged but all the changes in her life.My thoughtsThis is a sweet story with a happily ever after ending, but a few speed wobbles on the way there. Everly is pushed right out of her comfort zone, and finds she has the support of her best friend who tries to be understanding, but also her boss Chris, who instinctively knows what she needs. Everly’s severe anxiety is a front and center aspect of this story. I don’t suffer from anxiety, and can’t say if this portrayal is accurate, but it does seem exhausting. This is Sophie Sullivan’s debut and I enjoyed it very much ❤️

One of my favorite books from 2020!
OMG MY HEART. I can’t express enough how much I loved “Ten Rules For Faking It” by Sophie Sullivan. I fell in love with this story instantly and adored every single character. This one was tough to put down and left me feeling so many emotions because it is so relatable and came at a perfect time to help me address/sort through some of my own personal struggles with anxiety at this moment.First, these characters are magical. Let’s start with Everly, who suffers from severe social anxiety. The positive and delicate way that her social anxiety was addressed in this book made me tear up a few times because I felt like Sullivan was also indirectly helping me to understand the need to be more gentle and positive with myself. Everly’s character was raw, real and wonderful and I loved how much of her growth we got to experience throughout this book as she bravely overcame a lot of difficult things. Chris’s and Stacey’s character were truly incredible as well and I was in awe of their sensitivity and care toward Everly’s anxiety. They were both so encouraging, consistently reminded her of how brave and strong she truly was, and not once did they ever make her feel like her and her anxiety were too much.Once I was done reading this book, I immediately went online and preordered myself a physical copy. I wasn’t expecting this one to leave such an impact on me, but it did and I’m very grateful for that 💛 I was really impressed with the way that Everly’s social anxiety was handled in this book and I truly can’t recommend this book enough if you’re looking for a sweet, light hearted, not-your-typical rom-com that will not only leave you thinking about the story long after you finished it, but leave you feeling a little stronger if you suffer from general/social anxiety like I do. “Ten Rules For Faking It” hits shelves on 12/29 and really is a terrific palette cleanser for ending at 2020. Thank you so much NetGalley and Griffin for gifting me this incredible eARC in exchange for my honest review 💛

What a fun read with characters that jump right out of the book and into your heart and a great story that will tug at your heart strings, have you laughing out loud, with family drama, delve into social anxiety disorder, and leave a smile on your face and warmth in your heart. I loved the attraction, undeniable chemistry and slow-burn romance between radio producer Everly Dean and her station manager Chris Jansen. If you like wholesome contemporary rom-com, don't miss "Ten Rules for Faking It" by gifted author Sophie Sullivan. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.

Slow burn, sweet friends to lovers and forbidden love romance
Such a sweet book! I can’t wait to read more by Sophie Sullivan. Everly was a character I could really root for! Her chemistry with Chris was so palpable and I was waiting with bated breath for their big moment. I loved the representation of anxiety disorder as well. This book balanced light fun and comedy with some heavier topics. All in all it was a light read and I devoured it in a few sittings. It was quite a slow burn which I loved but by the end, I felt so many moments that should’ve been that weren’t so that kept me from giving it the full 5 stars. All in all, loved it!

literal rom-com
I understand Everly’s situation with her anxiety, but the inner monologues took pages and pages. The slow romance and trying to be friends first is amazing, that they didn’t just jump and everyone was caution of everyone (if that makes sense). The way Chris was declaring his feeling and interest was what we see in rom-coms. And I love that the author sorted everything out before ending the story.

Excellent writing, and high quality comedy
Love how she handles anxiety within the story. Excellent flow and continuity, with just the right ramping up to the climax. Just the right amount of intimacy description and honest reactions from all characters. Couldn’t put it down.
