This is such an amazing gift set for the kids in your life. My niece absolutely loves these books and I have bought her several of the sets. A great way to learn some history in a fun and approachable way for young ones.

Great set of books that's teach children about famous people in history

To be forthright, while we communicate regularly about the shades of "coloring" of each of our family, community, school, and friendship circles, we don't group anyone into black, white or brown categories. Our daughter will figure out the logical problem with placing people into groups, and then referring to individuals as group members later. For now, we talk about Maya, Rosa, and Martin as individuals, and we openly share our disapproval of the mistake of judging books solely on covers (including dust jackets).I personally find each of these Little People Big Dreams stories to be heavily wrapped in a narrative that I do not share, particularly regarding speculated causes creating (unsubstantiated) effects, both in terms of individual's stories as well as in the context of formal laws, de facto enforcement, and responses via litigations & disobedience movements that proceeded over time in the USA and other countries. Nevertheless, we purchased these sets for our child's pre-school and kindergarten in order to satisfy the guides/teachers/mentors needs. Since it carries a popular narrative, we at least want our child & her friends to be exposed to it, and become able to fully digest it so as to be able to understand the pros and cons eventually. We are not afraid of the incorrect details, the mistaken approach of claiming individuals belong in an ill-defined groups, and the logical errors that abound in that context.
