SageThe Temp Control Milk Jug, Brushed Stainless Steel, BES003UK

Seemed expensive at the time, especially since my Sage coffee machine came with a jug that is identical except for the lack of thermometer.Six months on I am very glad I bought this. It makes it very straight forward to heat the milk to the "correct" temperature every time. I am making consistently lovely flat whites :-). I am a bit spoilt by this and now wouldn't feel confident frothing milk without a thermometer. It is surprising how quickly the "optimal" temperature passes; it makes you realise how imprecise the rule of thumb "when the jug is too hot to touch" method is. Compared to a separate thermometer, this solution seems like less hassle.When I first opened it I was a bit worried about washing it up since the thermometer looked "stuck on". However, I treat it like any other piece of crockery, wash it up nearly daily and as you can see in the photo the thermometer strip is still in place.

I thought this jug actually heated the milk but I was mistaken. It is just a very expensive ordinary jug that I thought I wished I didn't buy. However I used it on my hob to heat soy milk together with my coffee (I used boiled water from my kettle). It heated really quick on the hob and the temperature gauge worked and didn't fall off as I expected. The coffee was perfectly hot, way better than the microwave method I used to use. The handle wasn't even hot when my coffee was temperature ready. The coffee heated really quick too. I bought it to avoid heating my soy milk coffee in the microwave. I know it doesn't say for hob use but it is pretty amazing on the hob. Now I am glad I bought it.

Bought this for my husband who went on a coffee barrister course. They say to hold the milk jug till it gets too hot to hold to know if you have the temperature of the the milk hot enough, however he is quite sensitive to holding hot things so would never get the milk hot enough. This just has taken away the guessing and why risk getting scolded fingers! As with all the Heston sage products, the metal and design are all high quality and very functional. I am not sure however, if the temperature gauge will begin to loose its effectiveness as it is like a sticker (similar to those you can get to out into your fridge to check the temperature) on the jug, but for now... Thoroughly enjoying

I bought the temperature displaying Sage jug not knowing that a standard jug comes with the Sage Barista Pro so now I have 2. I use one to scoop bird seed when it’s feeding time in the garden. The temperature controlling jug works fine. I’ve used it a few times and happy that the handle doesn’t heat up when steaming milk.

Significantly improved my steaming milk game, the hot to the touch technique is too inconsistent and this taught me that I wasn't steaming my milk hot enough
