TENMA 72-9265 CABLE TESTER, RS232/DB9 IN-LINE SIGNAL

Good assistant in troubleshooting
I used it to troubleshoot RS 232 interface for bus destination signs. It won't overload signal lines and instantly informs about any mistakenly wired connections. In last case I found TXD and RXD signals came in to opposite contacts resulted red light turned on pointing to the problem and solution at the same time. Good stuff !

Buy a short straight DB-9 cable
Love it. This is a replacement for one I lost. My complaint then and now. Ditch the threaded post, and just make it a simple plug in. I usually have to remove the threaded post or use a short straight DB-9 cable to adapt

Nearly perfect device for purpose
The absolutely only thing wrong with this device is the built-in nuts sometimes get in the way. I will probably Dremel them off. Otherwise perfect and cheap, too.

Invaluable when needed
Extremely valuable for installing and troubleshooting serial connections. Mainly used now-days for control of professional electronic equipment, or for communicating with high-end equipment for configuration.
