Huffy Granite 24" Mens Bike

Like a drunk person took parts from the defective pile and tried to win a race to assemble the bike
The headline is a bit exaggerated but the bike had several problems with it. Right away I noticed that the packaging zip tie on the front wheel bent the rim. The tire was still holding air and I fought back the initial urge to slide it right back into the box. It's a cheap bike and I couldn't find many others that had non-twist shifters so I figured I'd continue on. The front brake was not installed correctly. One side was tilted so that one corner of it would touch the rim first and the other side was so high it was braking against the rubber of the wheel. The front wheel was moderately out of true (not straight) with a bit of hop to it's shape (not perfectly round) but it seemed rideable. Around that time I noticed that the handlebar was installed with the components perpendicular to where you'd want them. Not a huge deal but also lowering confidence on the entire build further. The handlebars/front-fork/front-wheel were difficult to turn. I'm not sure why but it got a little better after a I turned it back and forth for a while. One of the brake pads left a black spot on the rim where the rubber corroded onto it so I'm thinking it sat in storage a long time and the lubrication dried up. I'm thinking I'm 80% done with assembly at this point so I soldier on and see if it at least rides and shifts well. Then I get to the back brake. It also needed the pads realigned and moved but I could get both pads to move when I compressed the brake lever. I loosened it way up and spun the wheel only to find it wildly out of true - probably a ruined taco wheel. I checked the spokes and several had not tension and just rattled around. I gave up investigating the rear brake issue and gently slid this abomination back into the box. I'm super glad I bought this with Amazon prime because returning will be a breeze. As a final note - I was also disappointed because the thumb shifters say shimano and are by the thumbs but are ones you'd have to move forward and backward like the old frame shift levers just near the thumbs. I guess that would work ok? Could be awkward to shift. The attached photo shows the bent front rim and the comical initial state of the handlebars.

Great kids bike
My son outgrew his BMX style bike and wanted to keep up with me better on my Mountain Bike. I got this one for him and it was easy to assemble and works very well. My only complaint would be that the gear switching is very tight and a little difficult for him right now. That could improve with use I would imagine, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Overall, very satisfied with this bike.

Good buy!
Heavy duty for price. 24” is what we bought for our 10 year old - perfect fit. Gears switch nicely, seat is comfy. Can’t complain!

Too good to be true
Got this unassembled, which is obviously how they come, no problem. During assembly, we see why it was sent back to Amazon and sold as used. Part of the frame wasn’t big enough to properly come down on the wheel hardware and had to be ground bigger with metal grinder. If you don’t have that capability, pay the extra for the full price bike either here or preassembled at bike store.

Inexpensive simple bike, meh quality.
Assume you'll have to replace the tubes (~$10) within a few days and the back tire within a few months (~$20).My front tube had a hole in it, as delivered. This is typical with these cheap bikes.I found that my rear wheel didn't even have the protective rubber around the rim. Also assume you'll have to readjust and re-tighten EVERYTHING. Took me about two hours, but if you haven't done this before, watch some Youtube videos and dedicate a Saturday.
