Superb standards of many paintings.
There are not too many really up to date books about this brilliant artist . For me ,it is the truly superb standard of reproductions which makes this book stand out . In addition ; a really good idea, there are several pages of " lesser " works printed as small pictures ;still enough to give a reasonable idea and giving a fuller picture of the breadth of this artist' vision .It is ,as the author admits ,not a biography and I did feel at times that this was a bit of waste. Too many sentences were padded out with trivia . In some respects I got a clearer picture of this artist from the 40 year old John Rothenstein book. However we should still be grateful for the huge amount of excellent work put in by this author . Now ,all we need is a major retrospective of one of this country's really great landscape artists.

Spectacular - a glorious memorial to the fabulous John Nash
If (like me) you inadvertently started with the "wrong" Nash brother - Paul, this is a terrific insight into his younger brother (John) whose painting style is wonderfully naturalistic and untainted with any formal training or following of other artist's style. The book is beautifully written by someone who is obviously a great fan, and is liberally spiced with commentary from the brilliant Ronald Blythe (a long term friend of Nash, and who still lives in Nash's tumbledown farmhouse called "Bottengoms") - and an author I recommend you to read for his delicious tales of country life.

Excellent
This is an excellent book beautifully produced. I read it in conjunction with Andy Friend's book: they complement one another. I am so glad I ordered it.

Superb
What a beautifully produced book. I have a couple of other woks on John Nash, but this surpasses those by miles.A fitting tribute to a wonderful artist!

Well researched - perfect.
Well researched, this is the perfect book for a much- underrated English painter.Fascinating details such as the abortive 1920s commission for Leeds Town Hall. The Author has done an excellent job with the right balance of factual detail.I first encountered ‘The Cornfield early 1980s on the cover of my Land Law text book. I’d moved to Colchester the year aster Nash died.

Disappointing.
Having bought this book hoping to find - at long last - many good quality reproductions of John Nash's paintings, I was disappointed to find so very many of them reproduced on such a small scale. So much of the page area had been given over to the text, which is printed in a large point size, presumably for the benefit of readers with poor eyesight, that It seemed as if the publisher and his book designer had decided to give the text priority over the illustrations. In an art book, this is unforgiveable.

Excellently produced book with superb plates and other illustrations
Books about John Nash are thin on the ground but this is easily the best. Above all it is a well produced item, a work of art itself. The involvement of the Goldmark Press is a guarantee of quality.
