Will this work with Malibu landscaping lights?

I had no problem replacing my old Malibu transformer with the Paradise GL33200.  The output voltage of both transformers are the same, 12 volt AC.

I used mine for about 2 months before it quit. the led works but it doesn't provide any power now. it was only ever at half load. what can i do?

It depends on the guage of cable and how many lights you have on a strand.  16 guage lighting cable is rated for 13amps. So on a single strand, you can add up to 13x12 = 156 watts.  So, with 16 guage you can have up to 15 10watt lights.  You can put more strands on the lugs.  Presumably the lugs are rated to carry the current provided by the transformer.  So a 200w transformer can provide about 16 amp @ 12v.  If you wanted to put all lights on a single strand you would need 12 guage wire (20 amps rated).  14 guage is 15 amps.  However you could connect two strands at the lugs with 16 guage runs as long as each strand didn't pull more than 13 amps and combined on both strands you don't exceed transformer power rating.

TLDR; how many lights you can have depends on transformer size (60w, 120w, 300w), the guage of the wire, how you partition your strands, and the power consumption of the lights on the strand. A 60 watt transformer could supply only 5 amps.  So a single 16 guage strand could handle it. You could put 6 10w lights on a 60w transformer, or 12 5w lights, etc.  That would be right at the rating though.  I would probably use a power budget equal to about 80% of transformer rating.  On our 60 w txformer example, I would budget 50 watts or so. So 5 10 watt or 10 5 watt lights could be used.  If your transformer can supply more power than the rated for 16 guage, you can move up in guage (14 or 12), or partition with multiple16 guage strands connected to the lugs.  You could pigtail a 12 guage feeder to the lugs and then join with multiple strands using dryconn wire nuts with the lower guage strands. You just have to make sure each segment cable is large enough to be within its rating under the load (number and size of lights).  Given all of that, as an electrical engineer, my suspicion is that 16 guage buried a few inches into the earth can handle a lot more than rated current before failing. The wet moist earth acts as a huge heatsink.  I bought a 200 watt txformer with single tap lug and multiple 16/2 wire feeders attached to ligs.  Running 12 10W cheap spots.  Have about 40-50 reliable watts left over.  Don't run txformer at rated power.  Leave some headroom so txformer doesn't prematurely fail.

It is lv, and isn't inside your home.  So you have a lot more leeway for mistakes that won't burn your house down. Worst case is high / non-dead-short causing the insulator to melt and then dead-short, which should shutdown at txformer with internal PTC device (assuming txformwr box has it) or pop breaker.
