The Daily Struggles of an Immortal: a Superpower Men's Fantasy Adventure (Immortal Supers Book 1)

Slice of life Super story with very little powers used
So this is mostly a romance story where super powers are common, nearly everyone has them. It's a very slice of life story with only a couple of action or power usage scenes in the entire book...unless you consider a vampire feeding or a guy using is tentaclea to digitally stimulate a chick to be them using their powers. While its not a bad story and there are plenty of sexy times, it is also kind of boring. I mean, a 219 year old immortal who has plenty of money is voluntarily doing drudge work in a cubical farm. zzzzzzzLets be honest, while its a well written story with interesting characters, the plot is super lame and goes absolutely nowhere. Its like watching a nice color of paint dry. Giving it 4 stars just because I want the author to keep trying, but this series is just not what I'm looking for. Its like watching Ryan Reynolds in a romcom. Sure its Ryan Reynolds and he is probably hilarious, but the cheesy romance theme just ruins it and nothing exciting ever happens. Hopefully the author will learn to write a bit more excitement into a book, rather than have it feel like a basic Tuesday.

Superheroes Need Love, Too
First-person superhero fantasy adult themes polySampson Archer is a superhero in hiding because he's not only a powerful superhero in a world of super-mutated humans, he's also much older than the usual lifespan. Then he meets Lily Dodson, a beautiful blonde woman with a powerful affinity for fire. Strong emotions cause Lily to ignite, so she's not only never been intimate with anyone before Sam, she's never been *able* to be intimate. Through serious patience, Sam helps Lily learn to control her ability and experience intimacy for the first time. And in that respect, this is very much a love story between two people with serious constraints on their ability to be intimate with others. Then there's Lily's best friend and mentor, Freya Rosetti, another superhero with serious impediments to being intimate. She discovers Sam's ability to heal, and since her mutation requires a diet of blood, she finds that Sam is able to provide food without the previous guilt. This is also about the test of friendships. Lily and Sam fall in love. But Freya finds herself falling in love with Sam because he, too, can withstand the requirements her mutation imposes.SOME SPOILERS BELOW:Some think this is a harem book, but it's not. It's a poly book, where Sam has more than one relationship. Lily wants Sam exclusively and having found a man who was not only patient with her volatile mutant ability, she wants him to be exclusively hers. But then we find out that like Sam, Freya is old, and because of her need for blood, she's lonely. Lily is the only person in decades that she's allowed to become close emotionally. It is Freya's ache for the same intimacy that finally sways Lily to allow Freya and Sam to have an intimate relationship; her desire for a monogamous relationship gives way for her best friend's heartache -- a heartache she's personally familiar with. Both women come to love the same man, and for the two women, he is very much the only man they actually CAN be intimate with (due to his mutant healing ability). But all three characters do not share the same bed. Sam is intimate with them separately. A harem story is one man, multiple women, which is different than a reverse harem story with one alpha female and multiple men as consorts or husbands; harem stories often have more than two of the women sleeping together as well as having sex that's separate from their encounters with their male partner. Poly relationships CAN involve same-sex intimacy between the women, but it's not required. As an act of compassion for Freya, Lily agrees to let her and Sam have sex, but she is adamant that there will not be a three-some.The sex scenes are mostly implied.Healthy relationships are always built on compromises. The relationships between Sam, Lily, and Freya, becomes very much a journey of finding a workable compromise between them that all three can accept. This is an interesting character study of a woman who wants monogamy but foregoes it for her best friend. I found the dynamics fascinating.Of course, there is danger and supervillains that test Sam, Lily, and Freya, too. That's also part of the superhero challenge, and the story was well done. I won't go into that portion because if you like superhero stuff, and are willing to say -- what if? then I think you should definitely give this book a try. I was impressed and enjoyed it. Strong 5*

A romantic super hero novel with some twists
This is the first book in the Immortal Supers series. For fans of the Super Hero genre, this one (and the companion series, Omega Metahumans) is excellently written. Great character development, superheroes with great powers and great vulnerabilities, and excellent pacing for development. The overall explanation of how powers are dealt with is also very well explained (see the Omega Metahumans series for more on this). It is a fair bit of slice-of-life genre, but it's still solidly in the Super Hero genre as well. For fans of the Harem genre, this book will also satisfy. The main character starts off monogamous, but is slowly pulled into an additional relationship. He does struggle with it. The women involved also struggle with it. This is not a book where the main character is irresistible to all women and gets his pick of the litter. Yes, he does attract gorgeous women to him. But he doesn't just sleep with them at the drop of a hat. It takes time to create relationships, and he certainly takes his time doing so.That being said, there are sex scenes in the book (not like some harem novels where the MC basically strings them along, never consummating the relationship). However, the scenes are tastefully written, not pornographic. There isn't a lot of fade to black, but at the same time, the scenes do not have graphic descriptions of the act itself, while still illustrating the fact that the "deed has been done".Plot wise, there are the typical big bads to fight in the novel, but the real enemy is never quite seen on screen. Something big is orchestrating events, and we see it's actions in the actions of the peons that must be fought. The plot is a bit slower than some other books in the super hero genre. There are long periods of time where the MC is dealing with his life as it gets more and more complicated. Developing relationships and whatnot. If you are looking for a continual thrill ride, then you may be disappointed some with the action pacing. But this novel isn't so much about the action (physical or sexual), it's about the way the characters interact with each other in the face of adversity. It's an enjoyable read, that I personally enjoy rereading multiple times.Besides, it's cheaper than a cheeseburger meal at a restaurant, and you get to enjoy it longer than 15 minutes.

Slow to start, weak narration/plot, potential for characters, overall a disappointing read.
This a strange combination of 'supers' with a fetish sex line added on the side.Cliche powerful women being reduced to little girls when around their man stuff. Also the writer never commits to descriptions of the characters sex live, "they made love, she climaxed 3 times", weak descriptions of that kind, however a lot of the book is given over to these frequent and weak descriptions, so it just feels like filler. Characters and plot have potential, but ultimately I wanted the author to commit to the sex scenes or leave them out and concentrate on the plot. At the start I was ready to buy the sequels but once I finished the first book I lost any urge to continue the journey.

Very Good Story - Well Told
I had not read a “super” novel before, nor any other format. This story flows well and the characterisation is detailed and the focus is very much on the relationships and how the physical and psychological characteristics of the three main actors bind things together. But the storyline also flows smoothly. A nice, easy read and I look forward to reading the sequel.

Good books even my Nan liked :)
Very Good Book, with an interesting plot, and a good amount of character development. My Nan even enjoyed reading the Immortal series but she sadly passed away before she got to finish book 5. So please keep writing this series!

I couldn't get into it
I really struggled with this book and stopped reading after the first few chapters. I just couldn't believe that the main character was over 200 years old, he just seemed really juvenile. Admittedly it may have gotten better so apologies that this is a review of only part of the book.
