Excellent
I love this! I’m a secondary science teacher and I love that this book uses kid-friendly language, but is careful not to introduce any misconceptions. Also, the Appendix at the end helps parents in case there are follow-up questions. I easily tackled this with my 5yo, just simplifying it a tiny bit.

Fantastic book for kids of any age.
I cannot praise this book highly enough. It is everything that I look for in a children's book. Beautifully illustrated and well thought out, it carefully and simply explains Darwin's theory without every dumbing down. The illustrations and stylish, clear and very detailed - they will engage even the youngest child. The language is simple and there are no great big chunks of text - even less confident readers well be engaged by this. It covers the basic concepts and ideas of natural selection and will leave the reader with an enriched understanding of the world around them.I am 42 years old and have a degree in veterinary medicine and I found this book fascinating and learnt a lot that I did not know, my 8 year old daughter feels the same way about it, reading it to herself in bed this week.

A book for and inquisitive child that is needed more than ever in our strange world.
I bought this book for an animal mad 7 year old boy.I thought it was important that in this mad world we live in, that a child should grow up knowing about how we all came about and the wonder of the world around us. This knowledge is under threat from people who want to turn back our understanding and narrow our minds. This book is beautifully illustrated and explains so many parts of Darwin’s theory in ways that even this non-scientific adult can understand. The book is probably about suitable for an 8 year old, but I gave it to a 7 year old who’s father is a biologist and he is able to take him through the book and explain things to the boy.In my view you can’t start young enough teaching a child the important aspects of the world around us and how we all came about.Lovely book, well worth buying for an inquisitive child.

Accessible book to grow with child
My son is 6 and a little too young for this book but he still enjoys listening and looking at the pictures. It has inspired some interesting questions and conversations, particularly as it deals with concepts not yet handled at school in Year 1. The language is definitely aimed at 7+ at least but the images make it easy to reword and explore the concepts. He enjoys the book and I'm pleased I got it for him, even at 6, as it'll grow with him. As an adult, I'm enjoying it too as it's obviously interesting but also beautifully illustrated.

Great book for children to understand theory of evolution
This book has beautiful illustrations and it’s perfect to explain to young children Darwin’s theory of evolution. Even though it’s simple, it explains topics such as natural selection, evolution, animal adaptations etc

Lovely pictures, simple language. My son loves it
Lovely book. Written is simple language with facts. Lots of pretty pictures for the kids. My son 5 years old can’t really get interested in the words yet but he got millions of questions only looking at the pictures. As I answer him he now know where dogs come from and understands why we are similar and different at the same time.

One of the BEST children's books avalible
I just received my copy and while I don't write many reviews, I was so floored by it I had to. What an amazing book! I bought it on a whim and am so glad I did. The illustrations are warm and inviting and the concept of evolution is broken down into small, digestible bites that are just the right pace for a little one (age 5+ but even my 4 yr old can get parts of it). While my kids are too young to fully understand the significance of evolution (1 & 4) this will help walk them along their journey of understanding starting even now. The pictures and captions repeatedly identify clear examples of natural selection that are so straight forward even my oldest can get it. What's more is many (all?) of these examples come from the very pages of Darwin's book. There is one example with moths preferring smooth yellow peaches over fuzzy pink ones planted nearby and the pink peaches becoming plentiful as a result. Simple, especially visually! The book is interesting for mom and dad but simple enough for kids. Teaching evolution and how species change over time is such an important fundamental topic, I can't believe its taken this long for someone to illustrate it for young readers! The book is simply fantastic, my new favorite. You will NOT regret this purchase! Especially for a school library. Ours asks for a book in honor of our kids birthdays, which I am back to buy now as well as copies for friends. p.s. I am in no way affiliated with the book, author nor have I received any form of compensation for my review, I just love it that much!
