Judging books by their covers
My only regret is that Nanao isn't releasing more mooks in the USA.This book is a Japanese style magazine-book "mook" that has several translated articles from Japanese Nanao. The cover is very neutral and sedate looking -- there is *much* more variety and interest inside the book, so don't think that everything is going to be that cool, fresh, conservative color styling. Mind you, this isn't going to be the poppy variety of Mokona's Okimono Kimono; this will be more tips-and-styling-for-everyone. If you wear kimono frequently (or want to wear kimono more frequently), whether you are a relative beginner or experienced, there are things to get from this book.If you've always been interested in kimono mooks, but have been frustrated by the language barrier, this is really going to be a treat for you. There is a how-to-wear-kimono section in the back of the book as there is in most kimono mooks, and I thought the details included in some of the steps were useful; some of these tips were new to me.Definitely worth the purchase; I will be incorporating a lot of the styling tips into the way I dress in kimono.Dear Nanao, more please!

Lovely book
This book is a must have for any kimono enthusiast. This is not a beginners guide to wearing kimono, there are plenty of those. Instead this book shows off the beauty of everyday kimono as worn by the modern kimono wearing woman. The photos are beautiful and the tips found in this book on creating kimono ensembles are wonderful. I am particularly in love with the idea of wearing a turtle neck and boots with a wool kimono. As this book is a collection of articles from Nanao magazine, Id love to see them publish a second volume!

Kimono out of the closet.
An interesting quick look at the various people who wear kimono today with their reasons why.

For NaNa-O Lovers who can't read Japanese
I've collected NaNa-O magazines for years and have only been able to look at the pictures and never been able to read the articles. This book brought some of my favorite articles to life by translating them into English. If you are a person who likes incorporating kimono into their everyday life, this book will be of interest to you. Having a basic knowledge of kimono is helpful when reading.

A Must Have for the Kimono Lover
This book was a recommendation and to be honest I didn't have high expectations. Its a pic book on kimonos, right?Well, as the cliche goes, this book is awesome, and beyond. Great ideas, detailed info and explanations, shoes and accessories, tips on what and how to wear (a huge plus). I am glad to have it in my library and will read it ovr n ovr again.

Wonderful, although not what I expected.
I bought this book as someone who makes kimono and yukata as a hobby, and was expecting something more along the lines of just photos of different modern kimono and how to wear them. Instead, it has a variety of collected articles and interviews on kimono and women who choose to wear them daily (or at least far more frequently than the average Japanese). Not that this is a bad thing - I found all of it very interesting. The photos and styling in this are fantastic, though, and there's plenty of inspiration to be drawn from that! It's a great book for an overview of modern kimono.

So nice to finally have translations!
I'm a huge fan of Nanao Magazine and have every issue, so having a English translation is a welcome treat! Some of the articles the editors chose to translate are my favorites from past issues, and some of the articles are kind of boring (in my opinion), but all in all this is an excellent presentation of contemporary kimono living for the non-Japanese speaking audience!

Wonderful "Mook"
This book is a cross between a fashion magazine and a book (hence "mook"). I loved the styling advice and the photos are lovely. The tips for dressing in the back are very helpful. I already know how to wear kimono but this will make my dressing process easier for sure!

netter Einblick

Fabulous book for kimono lovers
I simply loved this book, which is a collection of articles from Nanao magazine, and looked forward to going to bed each night so I could read a few more pages. I've already read it cover to cover several time. As a kimono collector and wearer I found it full of fascinating detail, especially as Japanese sensibilities are so different from European ones. I found the sections on wool kimono (I too wear mine over a poloneck and boots), staying cool in the heat and 'one kimono three obi' the most useful, and it was interesting to have interviews with everyday kimono wearers who all have tips for dressing quickly and being more comfortable. The styles are a little more formal than I wear - I am more of a kimono hime fan myself - but it's a fab book and I only wish there were more like it for non-Japanese speakers like myself.
