It's good, just not good for me
Let me first say that I purchased this bag with my own money and did NOT receive any kind of promotion or discount in exchange for my review. I needed a bag that I could 1) carry on my back and 2) be able to put under the seat on a plane. Even if I didn't put very much in this bag, I doubt (due to its size and rigid rectangular shape) that I could squeeze it under the seat of an airplane. The other reviewers do an excellent job of detailing the features of this bag, so I will point out some things I did not like about the bag I didn't see mentioned in any reviews.First of all, I was concerned about the hooks that convert the bag from luggage you carry to a backpack. They are made of plastic that, while not flimsy, seems like it would be more durable than what it is. To convert the bag to & from a backpack, you have to press in the hook to attach it to the plastic "eye" on the bag. The point on the hook that bends from pressing it in (right below my index finger on picture #3 shown) looks like it may be a point of failure with frequent use. Then the bag could no longer be used as a backpack.Secondly, the pocket on the back where the straps are stored when not in use can be used to hold things. However, please note that there are 2 small openings on the bottom corners (pictures #4 & #5), so that smaller items placed in that back pocket could fall out. As such, it's only useful for holding larger, flat items if you are using it as a backpack (as it would probably be uncomfortable to carry anything protruding from the bag in that pocket since it's resting against your back). Also, the material that separates the two mesh compartments (where small personal items can be stored on one side and laptop compartment on the other) feels like really cheap, thin plastic on the side with the smaller mesh compartment (pic #6). It's strange because the material on the side with the laptop compartment feels fine.Overall, I think this is a good bag, especially for $40. It seems very sturdy and well put together. However, if you are looking for convertible luggage and plan on using it frequently, you may want to opt for something else. It just didn't meet my needs so it's going back.

An excellent design
This bag is exactly what I was looking for. Unlike most backpacks, it is optimized as a carryon luggage. Most other backpacks of this size are either top loaders, or are made to open only partly, which, in both cases, makes it difficult to pack clothes without wrinkling. This bag opens fully, like a suitcase, making it easy to organize and access items. The top (front) compartments (pockets) are well thought out and organized, and the laptop compartment is well protected. The bag appears big (larger than my “hard” carryon with rollers). However, I have measured it and, in both width and length, it is about an inch and a half (3-4cm) shorter than the typical carryon limitation (e.g. for Air Canada: 21.5 x 15.5 x 9 in or 55 x 40 x 23 cm), so this should not be a problem. Such as it is, it is the only carryon that fits all I need for an overseas trip (previously I always had to carry another, smaller bag). Also it is soft, so it should easily conform to any compartment. Due to this softness, if you intend to put something like a large camera in it, you should get a hard insert for it, like I did (available in all sorts of sizes, and very inexpensive). The material appears of surprisingly good quality, and the zippers appear adequate. As mentioned elsewhere, the strap fittings are plastic, but it should be noted that most plastics are stronger and more durable than cheap metal castings, often used for luggage. In any case, I have not taken it for a trip yet (will do so next week), so my assessment of durability is so far based on appearance only.

Great purchase - definitely recommend this bag.
I was a little bit worried before purchasing since this product had only two reviews (and both of them were not verified). However, it looked good in pictures and was around my budget of 50 dollars. After one weeklong trip (that consisted of a few flights, long layovers and lots of walking around), I can say it's great. Few observations below:- I was worried about snap hooks connecting straps to the bag since they are plastic but they are sturdy and I had no problems with them.- straps are very comfortable and distribute the weight well. They are padded so it helps when you need to carry it a lot.- love the laptop compartment that's padded on both sides.- bag has plenty of pockets and the hidden one was perfect for my passport- I was caught in light rain once or twice but no water got in the backpack. Don't know if it's waterproof but def water resistant- converted it into a bag a few times and handles seemed to be comfortable. However, it is more convenient to use it as a backpack so that feature was not that important to me.To sum up, it is a great backpack for the price.

Nice backpack Nice price!
I just come back from my trip around the UK & Ireland, and it was very helpful this backpack, plenty of room and the airlines I used didn't give me a hard time, they didn't even noticed it because it is within the measurements they provide. The airlines I used were: Avianca, EasyJet and Aer Lingus, the backpack is amazing and it fitted in all the head compartments without any problem, it just fit so easily I will recommend this backpack to anyone who doesn't want to spend some 100s or 200s dollars on a backpack, it was enough for me to travel for 22 days.It was comfortable a lot of pockets to get organized you even can hide the stripes. I will update this review with photos.[UPDATE ] I added some photos.Seriously this backpack is amazing

The bag held up well and I recommend it to anyone for a carry on backpack
This is my first product review with Amazon.I took this bag on a 26 day journey through Northern Europe including Iceland in February and I found that it had ample room for all that I needed. Now mind you I have learned to travel light and never ckeck a bag. This carry on backpack meets from what I can see all of the low cost airline carry on limits. Also as it's a soft bag it will conform to their size limits. The bag held up well and I recommend it to anyone for a carry on backpack.
