Makes giving daily meds easier than just syringing into baby's mouth
My baby girl has to take medication every day. It's been increasingly difficult to get her to take the meds without spitting them out as time as gone on, and no one loves wrestling their 3-month-old down to shove meds down her throat. Our doctor had told us to try using a bottle nipple and syringing the meds into there. That worked great! If you want to save $15, just use a bottle nipple (without the bottle attached) and put medication into it as your baby is sucking on it!But, eh, I wanted it to be a half of a step easier, so I spent the $15 on the Pacidose anyway. It is very slightly easier than the bottle nipple thing. The syringe slides into the pacifier so that liquid won't get lost if baby quickly turns her head or something like that. Once baby is sucking on the pacifier, you slowly syringe the meds into their mouth. The issue with this is that the provided syringe is a little jerky, so I find that I can't push the meds out of the syringe as smoothly as I'd like and I sometimes give her a bigger push than I meant to, which means that she might dribble some meds out of her mouth. It will fit over generic syringes though, so I will have to ask the pharmacy for extra syringes.Lastly, because of the design, I do wonder how clean we actually get it when we wash it. The pacifier basically has a hole in it for the syringe to slide into, then it sort of narrows so that the baby is getting only a little spray of liquid at a time. There's not really a way that I've discovered to thoroughly wash the medication passageway.Pros:* Meds are a lot easier to give than our previous method of syringing into baby's mouth (caveat: only if your child takes a pacifier!)* My husband and I always know if one of us has given our baby her meds because the Pacidose will be sitting by the sink, dirty, if it has been used.Cons:* Not sure how clean the pacidose is getting when we wash it due to design.* The provided syringe isn't very smooth, so I feel like I jam too much at one time into my daughter's mouth.* My daughter usually takes a Soothie pacifier and this is slightly differently shaped, so she is a little baffled by it.

I love the concept of the design
Original 2 star review: "I love the concept of the design: the nipple is soft and feels just like a regular pacifier and it feels like it's made out of quality materials. It worked really well, although we still tried to aim the nipple to the cheek in order to squirt the med to the side of the mouth when actually administering and then center the nipple for sucking and swallowing because sometimes when we would squirt while he was sucking, the med would catch him off guard and he choked a little. I'm only giving it two stars because 1) the silicone part seperated from the plastic hard peice (that stays outside the mouth) in less than a week, however it is still usable. 2) the part that you connect to the syringe is also made of hard plastic. It would be easier to attach different oral syringes if it was also made of silicone or another soft material (even though oral syringes are supposed to have a universal tip, some are thicker than others and some of ours fit better in the pacifier than others and some would disconnect and the medicine would spill but we did get better at it as we used it more)."After posting this review, I was promptly contacted by the makers of Pacidose who profusely apologized for the itemBreaking and immediately sent me a replacement at no charge. I waited a little while before writing this review. I have now been using our new Pacidose for about 6 weeks, at least twice a day and I will say we have been very happy with it. Our son quickly learned how to use the Pacidose as a straw and suck down his medicine (when we first used it he had some trouble figuring out why liquid was coming out of his pacifier and how to swallow it without choking) to the point that we barely have to press the plunger to get his to take his meds. The newer model has proven to be more durable than the first and does not show any signs of breaking. Therefore I'm changing my review to 5 stars.

Great product, excellent customer service
We ordered this for our 1 month old's reflux meds. The design is excellent - as long as we wait until he's hungry, he actually draws the meds through the pacifier himself. The process is painless for everyone now, and we don't have to worry about him spitting anything out.We had an initial issue with one of the pieces connecting the pacifier to the syringe adapter breaking off while hand washing, but the company sent us a new one immediately without question. Excellent customer service! The only cons I see with this product are the syringe it came with (it gets stuck easily and you could end up pushing a lot of medicine through at once) and the syringe adapter piece pulling away from the pacifier.Because this product takes any standard syringe from your pharmacy or even otc infant medications, the first con is really a non issue. More of a waste of plastic for us since we don't use it.The second one I mentioned is more cosmetic as the pacifier still functions perfectly (for now) but it does seem to separate slightly every time we sterilize it. I'll update this if that changes in the future.Overall, I'd recommend this to any parent who needs to give medication to their extra little ones. We use this twice a day every day and I can't imagine giving him his meds any other way.

Life Saver
This product was a life saver. Our newborn has acid reflux, and so we were prescribed oral medication to treat him with. However, he hated it. It actually upset him to the point that he almost bucked himself out of his bassinet at only 6 weeks old. After doing some research, I found this product online. As we were uncertain at the time whether it was the bitter taste of the medicine or the invasive process of putting an applicator in his mouth that upset him, we were hesitant to spend the $15 for the Pacidose. In the end, we took the plunge (pun intended). Let me say that the product not only worked but that it completely took all of the stress out of giving him his medicine. He even seems to enjoy it now (so it turned out that it wasn't the taste). Many reviews here bash the Pacidose, stating that the applicator measurement marks came off right away. This did also happen to us, though we've been using ours for a month and a half and still have up to the 3ml mark. The important thing to know here is that the applicator can be replaced by ANY applicator. They give us a new one at Walgreens every time we fill his order, so we have numerous backups now. In the end, the "problem" wasn't a problem for us at all.

we found Nexium to work the best at controlling it
If you have to give medicine to an infant, this is a lifesaver! I wish I had discovered it 3 months ago. My newborn had severe acid reflux, and after trial and error, we found Nexium to work the best at controlling it. I have to administer 1 ml of medicine to her each day (and have had to administer as much as 2 mls at a time!). It is extremely difficult to do this without wasting medicine all down their chin. I was always scooping medicine back up and trying to get it back in her mouth. In my sleepless stupor, I was thinking about cutting a hole in a pacifier and figured that someone HAD to have thought of this before. I did a quick search on Amazon and found this! What I love about it, is that there is no medicine wasted. You push all of the medicine out through the dropper and through a small tube in the pacifier. It works like a charm and not a single drop wasted at all! My daughter is now almost 4 months old and I no longer dread giving her meds.
