The only challenge you’ll have with this outlet is ensuring that you get a Hubbell 14-50 raised outlet covered as well. You need the Hubbell one because a regular non-industrial grade cover will not fit. The hole will be too small.The only other challenge you run into is the fact that six gauge wire is difficult to bend to fit into a 2 1/4 inch deep box that’s where this Hubbell cover comes into play as it pulls the outlet forward and gives you more room.

Till now no issues. Looks very sturdy.

So here's the deal. If you bought a Tesla or other EV and have, or are planning to add, a NEMA 14-50 outlet for it, you'll need a quality receptacle. Why? The cheaper plugs produced these days are not meant for continuous use, but for an oven or stove that cycles power, again not for a contentious power draw like an EV charger. That means that you need an outlet that won't melt and catch fire, which is this one. These industrial grade outlets are not cheap, but are made for continuous electric at 50 amp 250v. If you are a DIYer this is the product you need, along with a new breaker (probably), metal box by the same manufacturer for masonry (it's deeper with more install space, and probably new 6 awg wiring to your panel. Also you'll need a torque screw driver to clamp the wire at its listed specification. If you're an electrician or are hiring one, they may not know this is a concern yet depending on EV charger experience, it's on you now to make sure the correct grade of 50 amp 250 volt components are in your house. Don't take chances, this is your product, unless you are hardwiring directly, a new circuit and wire to your charger. Stay safe!

If you're purchasing an EV, don't skimp and get this heavy duty plug. No issues woth the product.

I bought this Hubbell 14-50 after some research and the first two that were shipped had issues. The tightening screw for the wires would not tighten on one of the slots. I had to send two back and finally the third one was good to go. After that, everything was great and is working as intended. Would give 5 stars if not for them sending defective items at first.

If your going to use a plug for your ev charger (as opposed to hardwire) use a high quality plug such as this one

i used it for my Model Y i live in Florida it gets hot outside the house, i have a water resistant box and been 5 months no issue. i plug it in every time i use it with no issues . i recommend to buy it if you want to avoid a fire

You do not want to skimp on this plug. I would recommend buying a hubbell plug because of the quality of the plug. It's heavy duty, and doesn't get hot like my other 2 plugs. I tried to save some money and it nearly ended up badly. Plug was overheating and nearly melted which could have ended up in a fire. Please buy quality plug.
