Oh dear, all that was missing was a great dane and a camper van, i presume this was meant to be a comedy? which was not actually funny. The script must have been written by a 12 year old as a class project, by far the worst acting i've ever seen, don't waste your time watching this steaming pile of horse manure, go back to home page and look for something else. It will put you to sleep faster than Nytol.

Well-made, nostalgic, and entertaining 80s supernatural
For a low-budget late-80s B-movie the video and audio transfer are better than some of the bigger studio pictures from this period. The audio track – which was botched on the movie set - is particularly clear as every line and effect had to be re-recorded in post. The film itself is of a fantastically cheesy vintage; it went from inception to ready-to-shoot in under a week, so the plot is mechanical, (seven people enter a house – fewer leave) and the dialogue is massively overripe, but in a fun, corny way… and it’s not helped by the ‘detached’ ADR performances. Characters are all fairly stock, and are championed by a John McLean-style wisecracking hardboiled detective, who is – in all honesty – way too cool for this type of movie, but his constant jabbering helps the film remain on your good side. For the first few deaths it feels like the movie is wimping out of showing maximum gore, but the final act throws in a lot of blood and over-the-top kills, including an unusually long and graphic shooting and a monster melting sequence. It’s also surprisingly well directed; with slow and ominous camerawork (paired with an equally doom-laden soundtrack), plenty jumpscares, and some technical/dolly shots that you don’t usually get in this type of film. The Vinegar Syndrome Blu Ray release is the first uncut/unrated version; it also boasts a heap of extras including an honest & interesting interview with the director. Nothing about Witchtrap is exceptional or original, but it’s better made, more entertaining, and as nostalgic as any other film in this genre. (Linnea Quigley also gets her waps out!)

"..ANOTHER CULT 80'S CLASSIC.."
‘This time, it’s not a game.’PLOT...Parapsychologists and a security team try to make an inherited mansion that is seemingly haunted by an evil warlock’s ghost safe for guests. This is a fairly fun 80's horror with a typical haunted house theme and cheap deaths from an overdramatic cast of characters, the deaths are not overly gory but good fun none the less and its fun to see practical effects as they are much better, the cast is not bad, special credit goes to the lovely Linnea Quigley who cant help but pop up in so many 80's horrors and she gets plenty full naked and topless for her short screen time which is one bonus!! if our a big fan of obscure cheesy horror from the 80's then its highly recommended for the collection. The German Blu-ray has a pretty decent picture qualityLanguage can be played in original English or German.Region B for UK players, 90-mins, 1989.Features include a trailer and a short Linnea Quigley interview mostly German dubbed over.Witchtrap is a 1989 American supernatural horror film co-produced, written and directed by Kevin S. Tenney (Brain Dead; Night of the Demons; Witchboard and sequel). The working title was The Haunted. The synth score was by Dennis Michael Tenney.
