Once limited to an oral tradition among African-Americans unable to read and later to the rich cultural history of Black churches, today this soul-stirring music has transcended barriers, embraced by American mainstream and capturing creative and spiritual imaginations around the world. No other program, film or single album captured the heart of the Golden Age of Gospel as did TV Gospel Time (1962-65).
