Very well written, wide ranging introduction
A remarkably easy and entertaining read - well worth the time invested...

A broad overview
The author covers a large amount of generalized and meticulous information which made it hard to absorb the content . In my opinion, he gives the reader very little of the most relevant of the work and ideas of the great philosophers.

Surprising freshly written history
I have been surprised at the clarity of this book. Don't agree with it all, but gives a broad picture of metaphysics.

Very Useful
This is an extremely useful book for the study of philosophy, although it is hardly stand alone. Marias presupposes the students knowledge of many philosophical ideas, and limits himself to broad overviews of every concept. However, the perspective he offers will prove an invaluable resource in the general appreciation and understanding of trends in philosophy.

Philosophy has a history !
Knowing about knowing keeps the ball rolling. This is a well written book from the earliest days of wanting to know about theorems in truth and how these developed from before the Greeks. What is it that we really want to know ? This book is a fun road to travel on that adventure.
