A Careless Remark Leads to a Huge Misunderstanding
Our modern-day protagonist has the worst luck imaginable. A dense, parasitic ‘friend’ is the bane of our heroine’s existence, and has made her life a living nightmare. Not even being summoned to a fantasy world will rid the protagonist from the source of her misery. Their hosting kingdom abandons our protagonist shortly after, and from there her journey towards freedom and destiny begins.Discovering she is a beloved by supernatural beings, the protagonist finds herself on the receiving end of unprecedented favor from those around. Overwhelmed and hunted, she finds the means of a transforming escape in the form of a cat. She finds herself in the company of high ranking figures of another kingdom filled with powerful non-human beings, who cherish her to the point of deifying her. But as a cat.One careless comment causes a misunderstanding of the year, our protagonist believes humans are the unwelcomed sort in this country. She elects to make them all believe she is merely a cat for safety’s sake. And wouldn’t you know; the dragon king just so happens to be single. Despite their chemistry, a mere cat can’t be the dragon king’s bride regardless of their connection. The bond the heroine and dragon king share is a fascinating concept. Despite the humorous misunderstanding theme the story is based upon, their unorthodox connection kept me extremely invested in their relationship development. Especially since the hinderance towards their union is so funny. We the audience know the inevitable misunderstanding will be cleared up in later novels, but is a fun story to invest in the additional novel entries.I really enjoyed this novel. Its basis is so strange and funny the entire way. Definitely recommend.

excellently awesome and inventive
This new world. All the characters and situations are well thought out and stimulating. The way mana and magic work. The politics are simplified but seem likely. Intriguing and new twists and turns for our heroine and cast. Love the little white cat. And the tender heart. Wow. What a wonderfully complex works.Looking forward to the next volume.

More like 4.5 stars
It's another isekai story! Of note, however, it stars a female protagonist (which still isn't the most common thing to see), and it doesn't use first-person narration (again differing from most isekai LNs). I call White Cat's Revenge a comedy with substantial adventure and romance elements mixed in.College student Ruri and several acquaintances are summoned to another world, and their abductors declare that Ruri's unwanted "best friend" Asahi, is some kind of prophesied hero figure. Oh, the by the way, Asahi is an utterly selfish idiot who has made Ruri's life a living hell. As a result, when false charges result in Ruri being left for dead in a forest infest with dangerous monsters, it ends up being something of a blessing in disguise, since at least it gets her away from Asahi. Eventually Ruri makes friends, learns magic, gets a part-time job, becomes a permanent state guest and best friend of the dragon king, and even undertakes some impromptu international diplomacy. The story also sets up a bunch of plot threads I expect the author intends to explore in future volumes: war was beginning (as Zero Wing would say), there's potential for romance between Ruri and the dragon king, and there's a strong hint of mystery surrounding Ruri's family that probably foreshadows something. There's also the mystery of Asahi: has she unwittingly been using magic to ruin Ruri's life all this time, or is it possible she's more malicious than she seems? Will she forever remain the idiot she appears to be, open her eyes to what's going on around her and grow as a person, or is there a chance her stupidity is all a facade?I couldn't bring myself to give the book a full 5* rating, thanks to certain annoying elements. The story is downright farcical at times, with occasions involving questionable choices that seem forced upon the character by the author, seemingly uncharacteristic behavior that doesn't mesh with anything else we know about a character, and a case of tiresomely contrived mistaken identity. These sort of developments weaken the story, but thankfully are few enough in number not to completely ruin it.There's a lot to appreciate here. Ruri is a sympathetic protagonist, and her relationship with Chelsie is heartwarming. They develop something of a mother-daughter (or maybe grandmother-granddaughter) relationship, something I don't often see take center stage in light novels. I also appreciate the story's handling of its romance. Strictly speaking, there's not really been any romance yet, since, due to a magical bracelet and series of unfortunate events and dubious decisions, Ruri's potential love interest, Jade the dragon king, has no idea she's human. He thinks she's an adorable, intelligent, telepathically communicating cat. This provides time for their relationship to develop a little more naturally, rather than rushing quickly into being a full-fledged romantic couple.White Cat's Revenge really is a lot of fun, with humor, interesting world-building, strong characters, and intriguing mysteries. Just expect to be annoyed by the writing at least a couple times.

Love this
Came in pristine condition, I love this story. It might be cheesy to some but I find it touches on my favorite parts of fantasy and for me the character is very relatable.

interesting
This one is hard to review. The first few chapters were hard to read. The way it was put together warrants a 2 star. It was all a little disjointed. That being said the plot was interesting. The two main characters were perfect specimens which was a bit annoying but otherwise interesting. Good world building and premise. I would like to see where the story goes.

Not the manga
So, I didn't realize that this was the light novel and not the manga, which I should've figured out by the publisher. It's fairly standard isekai.
