The Maiden Ship: Book 1 of 3

I absolutely adored this, it’s amazing, I was so looking forward to this and I was not disappointed at all. Micheline is as fabulous an author as she is an artist, you wouldn’t know this was her debut novel at all. I loved every character, the time and thought into the development of each is clear and because of that you connect with them easily and it makes it an addictive story, from page one to end you just want to know what happens next, you’re on the edge of your seat and my big criticism of this, I now have to wait for the next book. Seriously recommended for great characters, romance, mystery and humour. A wonderful debut and hopefully the first of much more to come.

When I found out that Micheline was not only a talented artist but an author too I had to grab this book! At first I was sad I couldn’t get the physical copy, but once I saw it available in paperback last month I had to grab it!Reading it for the first time was really enjoyable, I mean who doesn’t love a story about being on a ship and sailing around the place. I loved the characters and some of them made me laugh 😂, the adventure they take as well as all the little stories that unfold.I was a little shocked at the ending of the first book but I sort of had a inkling on who it was. I’m not sure if it’s because I was reading two books at the same time that I rated this a 4⭐️. Maybe I will reread this book again and concentrate more on the story. But overall I really enjoyed the book, I definitely recommend it and can’t wait for book 2! x——————————————————————Update (18th January 2021): I was chosen to be a reader for the early access of The Lion of the Sea a sequel to this book. Of course I had to reread this book and meet all my favourite characters once again.I have enjoyed it more this time round as I concentrated better than I did last time. I enjoyed the banter, romance, friendships and the meaning of family.Even though as I read through I remembered the story, it was still enjoyable to go through that journey once again and experience all the emotions from sadness, happiness, love and many more feelings.I am excited to start my read on the second book, and I can’t wait to meet new characters and enjoy love more of the old characters x

This was one of my most anticipated reads as I love stories set aboard ships embarking on adventures on the high seas, and it certainly didn't disappoint. I absolutely fell in love with the characters, with a number of side characters coming in to steal the show! Micheline weaves an enchanting mystery that enfolds at a swift pace through a story that had me hooked from the first page. I am now on the countdown for the next instalment, this is a highly recommended read.

Wasn’t sure what to expect but a very pleasant surprise - starts quickly and is immediately gripping, characters have depth without it becoming confusing, Lore easy to understand with no info dumps! Would recommend, and I hope for a sequel!
