Update 2020-03-29=====I've used Boy Butter for many years as one of my two lubes of choice for manual stimulation, the other being pure organic virgin coconut oil. Always in the past I purchased the 9-oz squeeze bottles, because not only is it easy to use, it is also more hygienic than dipping into a tub multiple times. When the 25-oz squeeze bottles came out, I didn't hesitate to purchase it instead of the 9-oz. I know this product, I use this product, I love this product. I knew it would not be wasted.But something has changed. The product in the 25-oz and most recent 9-oz bottle that I purchased was thicker, a consistency more like an ointment than a lotion or creme. It squirts out in a snake-like cylinder, and it retains that shape until shaped by the fingers. For many years, the formula was thinner, more of a thick liquid like drinkable yogurt. The 25-oz bottle I purchased is closer to petroleum jelly than K-Y Jelly. I have mixed feelings about this.In my experience, there's little difference in how well the thicker and thinner formulas compare in practice. Both require a bit of time to warm up and thin out before they get to that perfect viscosity, though the thicker one naturally requires more time to get there. On the other hand, the thicker formula offers a sensation not available with the more liquid version, both when spreading it evenly across the area (if applied directly) and in how it feels before it gets warmed up.The thicker formula means less is required for the same amount of lubrication. Where I previously used about half a palmful, now I can squeeze out about a 3-4 cm (1.5 to 1.75 inch) length of the thicker stuff for the same effect: roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the amount I previously used. That obviously means more bang for the buck. (Indeed!)On the other hand, the formula is now so thick that greater effort is required to squeeze it from the container, even more so with the 25-oz bottle: Imagine squeezing peanut butter or cream cheese from a bottle. Due to the shape of the container, it is difficult to squeeze anywhere except the front and back. I've only barely started on the "family size" bottle, but I'm already concerned that about 20 percent of it to be impossible to squeeze out, which significantly reduces the cost savings the more highly concentrated formulation would otherwise bring to the consumer.Bottom line, it's a matter of preference, the older, less viscous formulation and the newer, more concentrated one. Unfortunately, Boy Butter doesn't seem to be giving the consumer that choice and has decided to replace the thinner version with the thicker one. I would urge the maker to offer both, in the same way that many other makers of similar products offer both gel and liquid varieties. I'm certain that many consumers will prefer the original formula, but many will also like the newer, thicker one. Thanks!Original review=====I've come to know my body pretty well over the last 30-something years, and it has generally preferred to skip the lubrication. However, as I have begun to age, certain functions tend to take longer than they used to. Add to that the decrease in Cowper's glad secretions ("pre") and in many cases, the consequences are that I end up red, swollen, and in pain. Because of that, a lubricant has become necessary more often than not.I am not fond of most lubes. Water-based lubes require more and more to the point that I spend more time reapplying than stroking -- and then it just gets tacky thanks to the glycerin content. Silicone lubes are a nightmare to clean, and are in fact my preference for anal lubes, but for the more traditional form of male self pleasure, are not worth the frustration. I really love pure organic virgin coconut oil, and sometimes I continue to use it. As an added benefit, it's good for skin health. Other oils and oil-based products can be nearly as difficult to clean as silicone products, which, along with their being unsafe for use with condoms, makes them less than ideal as well.So for solitary sessions, nothing beats Boy Butter. It has just the right consistency, a bit like mayonnaise both in color and texture, yet when it gets warmed up, becomes much thinner and slicker. Boy Butter is very easy to clean up -- as easy as water-based lubes -- and still retains all the pleasant features of oil-based lubes. It transmits heat well, doesn't dry out, and doesn't get sticky. One application at the beginning and most times you're good to go without the need for reapplication. And like coconut oil, it cleans up with only a towel, and water if you wish, leaving your skin feeling smooth and silky.Although I have always disliked lubes in the past, I'm starting to enjoy using Boy Butter. If you haven't tried it, you really must for solitary play. Of course, I don't recommend it for use with a partner because like oil-based lubes, it will break down latex condoms. If you do use it for partnered pleasure, I would urge you to use condoms made of polyurethane or other synthetic material.While it can be used anally, and I have tried it, I don't particularly recommend it. The few times I have used it in such a way, it upset my lower GI system a bit. I have confirmed that it is safe for use with high-quality silicone dildos, such as those from Bad Dragon and Tantus, but I have not tried it with other brands. I’ve heard mixed things about this lube but once we used it solo play or together it’s outstanding last long no smell easy to clean up super slick. After we got one we ordered two more. Just remember you can’t use it with latex condoms. But it’s great for toys and everything else

It's butt lube...and it's good at it. lol (No really, it's actually really good - all organic, so it is nontoxic and has a pleasant taste, cleans easily, does not stain material and certainly makes things slippery.)

I started using Boy Butter probably 8 or 9 years ago. It was great. Just the right consistency, never dried out, never got tacky, always cleaned up easily. But those days are long gone.Two orders before this one, I bought the largest squeeze bottle offered, and the product was so thick it would barely squeeze out of the bottle at all. It was thicker than toothpaste! I ended up throwing the bottle out half full because I could no longer squeeze it out. And it was too thick to shake the remainder down toward the cap.But it had always been good before then, so I tried again — deciding to purchase a tub instead of a bottle just in case it was that thick again. And it wasn’t quite that thick, no, but still thicker than you’d expect. It also had a somewhat gelatinous texture to it. Like you mixed liquid Jello into Cool Whip or something. But it was usable and I was able to finish the tub. But I noticed that it needed reapplication more than it had in the past.When I bought this tub, I was shocked at the price — apparently there’s a shortage of boys to provide the butter or something? Anyway, this tiny tub is half the size of the previous 16-ounce tub I previously purchased — and but still more expensive.What’s truly strange, though, is that when I opened this tub, instead of something the viscosity of honey, instead of Jello Cool Whip, what I got was just the Cool Whip… Which is good! It’s closer to how it used to be than it has been the last 3 times I purchased it. It’s still not quite there, but it’s close.What’s strange though is that many reviewers here have commented on how thick it has been. I have in the past contacted the maker. And the response from the maker is that the formula is the same it has always been. If that is true, though, I have to wonder what kind of quality control is being employed. Do they just guess at the amount of each ingredient to add and say “that looks about right”?The maker had implied when I contacted him about the very thick “honey-like” bottle, that it could be due to temperature. Yet I live in. Part of the country that is between 55 and 85 near every day. And I’ve used it for years — why would I only now be seeing these problems if it weren’t due to the manufacturing process?Bottom line, it all depends on the viscosity and creaminess. When it’s good, it’s very good. But when it’s too thick or too gelatinous and glossy, you’ll hate it.

I’ve been happy with this lube as I’ve had to adjust to taking matters into my own hands the last few years. Boy Butter does the job. It’s a different feeling than Astro glide but clean up is easier.

The price for this is a total rip off. I went to the manufacturers website directly and was able to purchase the 16 oz tubs for $26 each...that is way less than half what they are asking here....As for the product...just can't beat it...wait....of course you can...that's what it is for right? Look around, and go for the 16 oz tubs...they are much more reasonable.

Smooth, creamy, rubs in well withour feeling greasy. A little goes a long way. Tasteless. Safe for injestion & silicone toys, a huge plus! Lasts a long time though sometimes you do still need to reapply. No staining, no mess. Even can be used as moisturizer for other body parts, lol! This works much better than pure coconut oil or any water based lube I've ever used. Will definitely be purchasing again.

I have used boy butter before and it's supposed to be a solid oil like consistency. This however arrived yesterday and is a cream?? It was leaking out the tub and is very messy.Have also tried the product and its just nothing like the actual Boy Butter. Not sure what I have received and don't recommend buying this from Amazon.

although it does feel good after a couple weeks of use for self pleasure and with a partner i started getting sore patches on my nether regions. turns out this was the cause of my affliction. if you are to use it i would recommend using it with care.

It was obvious the container had been opened when I recieved it as there was lube residue all over the outside of the tub. I ordered a tub of the original boy butter formula and thats what it said on the tub but inside it appears to be the water based boy butter formula or maybe it is just lotion. This is very disturbing and I will obviously not be using whatever mystery product is inside! I have ordered the original formula direct from the company before and know what it looks and smells like and whatever this is, is not it!

This stuff does what it's supposed to do. But it is almost liquid in a flimsy tub. I knocked it off the bedstand and it splattered across the rug. A huge mess. I was hoping for something more the consistency of Crisco, a soft solid that liquifies when warm. It would probably be ok if it came in a tube. I'm hoping to find something like that to put it in.

Literally the best lube I have ever used! No question. Easy to clean up, easy to apply and long lasting. I have ZERO issues with this product it's perfect in every way. (I know some people say that but I am being completely honest here!) I've used one tub already and purchased the second because of how good it was.
